**Far Cry Primal extras: Survivor mode, permadeath and Legend of the Mammoth**
Primal's two biggest extras pull in opposite directions. Survivor makes Takkar more vulnerable and his journeys more demanding. Legend of the Mammoth lets you trample through short bonus missions as an enormous animal.
They belong to different parts of the package. **Survivor was a free update. Legend of the Mammoth is bonus content whose entitlement depends on the edition or add-on you own.** Check those separately before assuming an installation is missing something.
**Survivor changes the daily routine**
Survivor arrived through the free April 12, 2016 update for PS4, Xbox One and PC. It can be combined with different difficulty settings; selecting Survivor does not automatically mean selecting Expert. [Ubisoft's announcement](https://t.co/f35ln1fV1a) explains the distinction.
The main changes are practical:
- A stamina meter makes exhaustion a problem; sleeping restores it.
- The minimap is disabled by default, and exploration reveals less of the world map.
- Fast travel spends food and stamina.
- Encounters and supplies become less plentiful, especially during the day.
- Animals that fully die cannot be revived. Ordinary species can be tamed again; a lost unique beast cannot be replaced.
- Some stronger animals must be weakened before they can be baited and tamed.
- The owl loses its offensive role, and crafting ammunition takes time.
That changes the order of a sensible trip. Sleep, refill and decide where you can recover before heading out. Take the resources for the journey home seriously. A fast-travel icon on the map is less reassuring when reaching it consumes supplies you have already spent.
Prepare arrows before entering a camp. A quiet pause outside is a much better crafting window than the moment a guard sees you. Use the owl to inspect the terrain and patrols, then plan the attack around weapons and beasts you can afford to risk.
Be especially protective of the great-hunt companions. Their value makes them tempting for every dangerous fight, but their permanent loss can change the rest of the run. Pull them away from a failing attack while you still have the option. A retreat with the animal alive preserves more progress than one extra enemy killed.
**Permadeath is another choice**
Survivor allows ordinary respawns, a second-chance setting or full permadeath. Second chance supplies a backup life that replenishes at certain progression points. Full permadeath ends the run on death, with vision missions excluded from that rule.
Choose the level of commitment you actually want. Survivor with normal respawns already asks you to rethink travel and resources. It gives room to learn unfamiliar caves and fights without losing the entire campaign to one mistake.
For a permadeath attempt, dangerous shortcuts deserve extra scrutiny. Look down before jumping, check how you will exit a cave and avoid picking a fight beside a cliff when the reward is a resource you can gather somewhere safer. Those are ordinary habits, but the cost of ignoring them is much larger here.
Do not copy normal-mode skill menus or animal-revival advice without checking the Survivor version. The restrictions are part of the mode, not evidence that the owl or beast menu is malfunctioning.
**Which edition contains the mammoth missions?**
The **Digital Apex Edition** includes the main game, **three Legend of the Mammoth missions**, the **Blood Shasti Club** and four enhancement packs. The current publisher listings on [Steam](https://t.co/b6fGBjyzA8) and [PlayStation](https://t.co/NiVBTFvTFz) identify that bundle.
The packs offer early resources and selected cosmetic or equipment benefits: Sabretooth, Owl, Mammoth and Bomb. They do not form four separate story campaigns. Historical physical Deluxe packages also included extras such as the SteelBook, map and soundtrack; those physical items should not be assumed to come with a digital purchase.
The Blood Shasti Club is a bonus weapon, described by Ubisoft as unbreakable and fireproof. It is separate from the normal club's village upgrade path. [Ubisoft's Deluxe-content breakdown](https://t.co/9qHV4AFLzN) lists it alongside the mammoth missions.
The mammoth missions become available at Tensay's hut after **Attack of the Udam**, provided you own the content. If the option is absent, verify the add-on entitlement and installation before following an old guide that assumes a preorder or deluxe package. Primal remains a single-player game; an edition upgrade does not add co-op. Ubisoft also bundled these bonuses as the **Wenja Pack** after launch. Its [original announcement](https://t.co/ULfKBv1j4M) explains the package; that historical listing is not a promise about today's price or every store's availability.
**Duel of Beasts**
The first vision follows a rhino spirit through three stages, with ordinary rhinos joining the fight along the way. This is the mammoth's direct animal-versus-animal challenge, rather than a raid on a human settlement.
Give yourself space before committing to a charge. Look beyond the target so you know where the movement will end, especially when the route approaches a cliff. Once a group is dealt with, return your attention to the spirit and the next objective instead of wandering off after the last animal you noticed.
**The Trapped Elder**
The next mission sends you through Udam camps to rescue an elder mammoth and bring it back to the herd. Reaching the captive is only part of the job; the return journey matters too.
Treat the escape as an escort. Stay aware of the elder's position and clear the danger between it and the next objective. Racing far ahead can leave you watching a different part of the battlefield from the animal you are supposed to protect. After each fight, check that the elder is still moving with you before chasing another enemy.
**Hunt the Hunters**
The final mission gives you a herd of five mammoths to lead past Udam ambushes. At least one of those companions must survive; your own survival alone does not satisfy the escort objective.
Watch the herd as carefully as your own health. When deciding between an enemy off to the side and one blocking the group's path, deal with the immediate threat to the escape first. The mammoth is powerful, but the mission's success condition still asks you to bring somebody else home.
Taken together, the three visions offer a boss hunt, a rescue and a herd escort. They are short diversions with a separate perspective, not a second village campaign. Survivor changes how you live in Oros for an entire playthrough; these missions give you a brief chance to experience it from the other end of a charging animal.
