**Valley of the Yetis: building a foothold in Far Cry 4's frozen expansion** A helicopter crash leaves Ajay Ghale in a valley where the local cult wants him dead and the biggest thing in the snow can tear through a fight on its own. Valley of the Yetis takes Far Cry 4's familiar weapons and climbing tools into a smaller campaign built around one place worth defending: the relay station. Released in March 2015, this is an expansion requiring Far Cry 4. Its entire campaign was designed for solo play or two-player online co-op, a significant difference from the base game's story-mission restrictions. It was included with the Season Pass and Gold Edition. Check your platform's installed content before purchasing it separately. It leaves the final story reveal alone. Online design is described here, not a guarantee that every platform's services are available whenever you read this. **Expect to build Ajay back up** Your main-campaign equipment and developed skill trees do not simply carry you through this separate adventure. You rebuild your capabilities within the valley. Some skills are unavailable, and the normal Karma system is absent. Loot chests matter particularly because abandoned supplies include animal skins. A crafting requirement can therefore lead you toward an old expedition camp or cave instead of a long hunt for the corresponding animal. Check the crafting screen after looting several containers. Capacity upgrades are easiest to miss when the ingredients arrived as ordinary-looking loot. Put health and the equipment you actually use ahead of a specialty upgrade for ammunition you rarely carry. **Establish the relay station** The station becomes your hub, with a trading point for supplies, weapons and upgrades. Campaign missions and repeated night defenses give the expansion its structure. The defenses intensify, so use the exploration periods to make the next one more manageable. Station improvements can be bought or earned through Upgrade Quests. Those quests include collecting supplies, bringing vehicles back, protecting animals and climbing to recover mounted weapons. Give each outing a clear purpose. If you need a gun and an upgrade quest is nearby, combine them. If you are already returning with the required vehicle, get it home intact before attempting a spectacular roadside fight. The station only benefits from supplies that actually arrive. **Four useful weapon stops** These checkpoints provide a practical starting selection rather than a complete armory map: - **MS16, around X:677, Y:415:** on a crate near a shack northeast of the station, close to the West Side Barrel Traps quest area. - **SA-50, around X:571, Y:256:** southwest of the station. A useful longer-range pickup if you want to scout and engage from farther out. - **M-79:** in the ice cave by the Body Armor Upgrade quest marker, around X:358, Y:484. The surrounding area can be dangerous; prepare for wildlife and cultists before heading that far northwest. - **MKG, around X:690, Y:531:** in a small recess near the South Side Mounted Machine Gun quest route. The climbing trip can serve both objectives. Carry a close-range fallback alongside a rifle. Snow, slopes and a moving target can quickly remove the comfortable distance that made the first shot look easy. **Make the night defenses work in your favor** Before starting another defense, restock healing and ammunition, then inspect the approaches your station upgrades cover. Minefields and fixed weapons are more useful when you know which direction each protects. Enemies trying to plant bombs deserve immediate attention. A defender wandering into a distant exchange can leave the actual objective exposed. Break off an optional kill when an attacker reaches the station itself. Use cover with an exit route. A mounted gun can control a lane, but staying attached to it while an enemy attacks from another side wastes its advantage. Fight the lane, then move when the situation changes. If playing with a partner, agree on who watches which approach and who can respond to a breach. Both players chasing the same retreating enemy leaves the same gap twice. **Dealing with a yeti** Powerful headshots and explosives can weaken a yeti. Once it is vulnerable, move behind it for the takedown opportunity. Watch for the prompt rather than running into grabbing distance while it is still fully active. Leave yourself space to retreat and reload. Rocks and buildings can help separate you from other attackers, but a narrow corner can also trap you with the largest enemy in the area. If the yeti is already close, creating room comes before lining up a beautiful shot. The expansion rewards preparation in a very visible way. A weapon recovered during daylight, a capacity upgrade and one improved approach to the station can all matter during the next defense. That connection gives the exploration a purpose beyond filling in the map.
