**Far Cry 3 mission help: the prison, the burning fields and the satellite defense** Spoiler scope: Prison Break-In, Kick the Hornet's Nest and Paint It Black. This guide covers their objectives and trouble spots, without revealing the ending. The prison attack gives you room to plan. The drug fields turn the landscape into a fire hazard. The satellite mission finishes with enemies rushing an objective you have to protect. Each asks for a different pace, and treating all three as a straight sprint through the nearest red dots makes them harder. Before starting, restock ammunition and healing supplies. Bring a dependable weapon for ordinary guards and something that can deal with a close-range emergency. Choose equipment you can use comfortably while moving between cover; a powerful gun does little good if every missed shot leaves you struggling through a reload. **Prison Break-In: take control of the approach** Approach the prison camp from the southwest and survey it from the hill. Tag the defenders, identify the guard tower and locate its alarm. There is another alarm near the northern beach, so destroying the first box does not make the entire camp safe from reinforcements. The warden is at the northern beach, in a shack. Kill him and search his body for the key, then follow the objective into the cave. A practical approach is: - Clear or distract the guard who prevents you reaching a useful firing position. - Deal with the visible alarm before opening a prolonged fight. - Check the beach alarm while moving toward the warden. - Keep the warden's body in mind during the fight. You need the key, so do not clear the whole camp and then wander around trying to remember where he fell. You can use stealth or fight openly. Choose one based on the weapons and skills you actually have. If a quiet approach falls apart, pull back into cover and stabilize the fight rather than running deeper into the camp while looking for another silent takedown. The cave changes the encounter. Expect tighter sightlines, shotgunners and explosive barrels. A shotgun is useful here, but an accurate automatic weapon also gives you a way to stop an enemy coming straight down the passage. Work from one cleared section to the next. Reload before moving around a blind corner. Use a barrel when enemies are close to it, but avoid standing beside one while exchanging fire. Keep enough space to back away if a guard rushes you. Follow the cave through to the video-room sequence. The story deliberately takes control at the end of this mission; another loadout or a cleaner camp clear will not remove that scripted transition. The burning-hotel escape belongs to the following mission, Island Port Hotel. **Kick the Hornet's Nest: let the fire work** Willis supplies the flamethrower. There are two crop fields at the first site and three at the next. Ignite the plants and give the fire time to spread; nearby fuel barrels can also start the burn. A short burst into the crop is a better starting point than holding the trigger until the tank empties. Back away, watch the objective counter and move to a safer angle. Add more fire only where the crop still needs it. Keep a clear retreat behind you. Once a field is burning, moving through its center trades your health for very little progress. Work from its edge and use a conventional gun on distant guards rather than chasing everyone with the flamethrower. Fuel can be found in nearby shelters and houses if you run low. Check the immediate area during a lull instead of wandering through flames looking for the smallest remaining patch of plants. The fishing village is the part to prepare for carefully. Clear a useful route through it before committing to the dock. The boat will attempt to escape, and an RPG is available on a crate at the dock. Get the launcher ready and take a clear shot as the boat leaves. Three habits help here: - Keep your attention on the escape objective when it activates. This is a bad moment to loot bodies. - Avoid standing so close to cover that the rocket strikes the object in front of you. - If you miss, correct your aim immediately. Do not spend the next few seconds switching back to the flamethrower or chasing the boat on foot. The fields reward controlled use of spreading fire. The dock rewards having the right weapon in hand when a short opportunity appears. Treat those as separate phases and the whole mission becomes more manageable. **Paint It Black: prepare before planting the charge** The communications facility is a restricted area. Jason's privateer disguise does not grant safe passage. Scout the outer camp, then fight through to the bunker doors and breach them with the objective explosive. Inside, keep moving through the base toward the satellite dish. The enclosed fighting leaves less room to recover from a rushed advance, so clear an angle before crossing it. Save your strongest close-range response for enemies who are actually preventing progress rather than firing it at every ordinary guard. Before planting the dish charge, clear the immediate area. Check for the sniper and the dog, reload and decide where you will stand. Mines placed on likely approaches can help thin the incoming attack; keep your own retreat away from them. The defense has a specific purpose: stop enemies reaching and disarming the charge until Sam arrives. Pick cover that lets you see the objective and at least one approach. A wonderfully protected hiding place is useless if you cannot see someone working on the bomb. Prioritize according to the danger: - An enemy reaching the explosive needs an immediate response. - A nearby attacker forcing you out of cover comes next. - A distant target who is neither threatening the charge nor landing effective fire can wait while you reload or heal. Use short moves between cover rather than a long lap around the dish. The farther you chase one soldier, the more time you give someone else to reach the objective. Keep checking the charge after each engagement. Once the helicopter is ready, follow the extraction objective and board it. Watch for the detonation prompt during the escape. Staying behind to finish a personal fight with the remaining guards only prolongs the danger. If you keep failing, change the preparation that leads into the defense. Enter it with loaded weapons, healing available and a chosen position. That gives you a repeatable starting point, so the next attempt can improve one decision instead of recovering from three avoidable problems at once.
