**Spartan Assault — Operation D: Captured Chance** Solo missions D-1 through D-5. Captured Chance is the evacuation operation. That means several missions can go wrong even while Palmer is doing perfectly well herself. The people and vehicles you are protecting are the objective. Keep checking them instead of following the nearest enemy wherever it happens to run. **D-1: Escape from the Southern Fields** Break through the main gate, reach the armory, destroy its door and enter to obtain the jetpack. The collapsing base gives you a timer, so this is not the moment to wander around trying to clear every corner. For **Brute Force**, use only the Brute Shot, melee attacks and grenades. Start that restriction immediately. Do not use your ordinary gun to kill a Brute and then assume the rest of the mission qualifies. Use grenades or melee to kill a Brute carrying the weapon, pick up the Brute Shot and use that alongside your grenades against the barriers. There are grenade supplies near the opening gate and additional ammunition from the Brutes. Save explosive ammunition for the doors instead of spending everything on isolated Grunts you can safely melee or avoid. Once the main gate is open, advance to the armory and blow its door. Enter the building to trigger the jetpack escape. You do not need to stay outside clearing every new enemy first. Do the unrestricted score attempt separately if you want to use other weapons. A faster clear with the wrong weapon is still the wrong clear for Brute Force. **D-2: Liberation of Faraday** Fight through the ruins to the first pinned-down Marine group near the cliff. Their rescue includes an incoming attack, not just walking up to their position. Clear that attack before moving farther north. The second group also needs a defense, this time against heavier opposition including a Brute Chieftain. Keep enough room to move rather than letting the fight trap Palmer beside the people she is rescuing. Continue toward the third group. Notice the two unmanned Ghosts in this section: enemy Elites can enter them if left alone. Deal with that developing threat instead of assuming an empty vehicle will remain harmless throughout the encounter. After the third rescue, escort the remaining Marines toward the northern extraction point. Clear the infantry and the occupied Shade on the way. The destination is the Elephant inside the base area. Bring the survivors there and complete the boarding sequence; the mission does not end at the third group's original position. **D-3: Assault on the Covenant Landing Zones** Take the Grizzly at the start and advance with the friendly armor. Your objective is five fuel rod turrets, but there is a vehicle battle on the approach first. Use the tank against the Wraiths and Ghosts rather than getting out prematurely to fight them on foot. The route eventually reaches Covenant roadblocks guarded by an Elite and Shades. Clear that position, then leave the Grizzly to pass through the barriers. The landing-zone portion is an infantry advance. Destroy the artillery targets while dealing with the defenders around them. Spirits bring in reinforcements as you progress, so do not stand beside a destroyed turret assuming that space is permanently safe. Work through the remaining target markers until all five are gone. Then turn back. The final objective is to regroup with UNSC forces near the roadblocks, not to continue searching beyond the last gun. Retrace your approach through the surviving resistance and reach the regroup point. **D-4: Escape from Faraday** The Elephant begins moving while you defend its rear. Stay with it and intercept the Elites and Suicide Grunts trying to reach it. Many attackers are interested in the transport rather than Palmer; letting them run past you because they are not shooting you is exactly the problem. Drones join the fight partway across the bridge. Keep watching the rear assault after clearing them because more ground waves follow. Near the far end there is a damaged Ghost, but using it is optional and the later roadblocks prevent taking a vehicle through the whole route. Once the Elephant leaves the bridge, the objective switches to a frontal defense. Move with that change. Staying behind the transport while the next wave attacks its front leaves you defending the wrong end. Stop the Suicide Grunts, deal with the Jackals and remove the Shade gunner firing at the Elephant. Keep protecting it until it advances safely through the final assault. **D-5: Defense of the Enemies' Airbase** Protect the evacuees moving from Elephants into the captured Spirits. The casualty limit is the important number here: losing ten evacuees fails the objective. Do not interpret a healthy Spartan as proof that the defense is going well. The first loading phase has attacks coming from more than one direction. Use the mounted gun when it covers the threat, but leave it if enemies are reaching the evacuees from another side. Intercept Suicide Grunts before they reach the loading route. When the first Spirit departs, move right to the second evacuation position. The mission is only halfway through its loading sequence. Reset your attention around the new Elephant-to-Spirit route instead of continuing to defend the empty first site. The second phase brings tougher Elites and a late Brute Chieftain, with attackers eventually coming from both sides. Keep checking the casualty count and the remaining time. Finish protecting the second group until its Spirit leaves. That completes Captured Chance. For challenge cleanup, replay the mission you actually need rather than repeating the entire operation; these are separate mission selections and separate counters.
