**Spartan Assault — Operation C: Monolith** Solo missions C-1 through C-5. This operation follows Davis back on the moon. There is a timed push, an engineer rescue, a convoy ambush and an escort before the final defense. Watch the objective changes. Several of these missions keep going after the thing that initially looks like the main battle. **C-1: Descend from the Perch** You have a deadline to secure the landing area for incoming Marines. Start moving through the rocky route instead of treating the opening cliff as a place to hold indefinitely. Fight through the first Grunts and Elites, then continue past the Jackals and the supply-drop position guarded by an Elite Major. The surviving ODST farther along the route is a useful landmark. Clear the enemies around him and watch for the Suicide Grunts that follow. Continue through the next groups toward the occupied Shade at the end of the route. It is supported by several Elites, so avoid stepping into the turret's fire while focusing entirely on one shielded enemy. Clear the final defenders and allow the incoming drop pods to arrive. Keep the timer visible. A weapon-challenge detour that leaves the landing zone uncleared is not a successful mission, even if it gave you a handful of useful kills. **C-2: Spirit Graveyard Stand-Off** Start by defending against the Covenant around the wrecked dropships and the arriving ODSTs. After the first attack, clear the Drone swarms. Do not mistake the first swarm's disappearance for the end of that objective; additional groups arrive. The next enemy reinforcements are another separate stage. Once those are cleared, the objective changes to rescuing two combat engineers. Move to each engineer and bring them with you. Ghosts enter the fight during this rescue, so clear the immediate threat instead of leading the engineers straight through vehicle fire. With both engineers collected, return to the center of the drop zone. There is still a final defense. Drones and Elites arrive, followed by further infantry from different directions. Stay close enough to protect the engineers while dealing with the attackers; chasing one enemy to the edge can leave the people you rescued exposed. The mission is finished when that final assault is beaten, not when the second engineer first starts following you. **C-3: Assault on the Supply Lines** Destroy the six Wraith convoy targets, then get back to extraction. This is a timed ambush, so use the stationary guns and keep moving between useful firing positions rather than spending the whole attempt fighting infantry with a handheld weapon. For **Never Knew What Hit Them**, you need a convoy-target kill with **each of the four stationary guns**. Four, not three. Staying on the first gun and destroying the entire convoy will clear the main objective but miss the achievement. Take a Wraith kill with the opening gun, move farther up the route to the second gun on that side, then cross toward the next gun on the opposite side and continue to the fourth farther along. Keep your own simple count: one qualifying kill from each distinct gun. Merely getting into the emplacement is not enough. Do not use up all six targets before visiting the remaining guns. Infantry kills are not a substitute for the required convoy kill. If your current position has already done its job, move on instead of destroying another target just because it is convenient. Once the convoy objective is complete, return south toward the original outpost and the extraction Hornet. Enemies can pursue you on the return. Keep moving through the route you already know and finish the extraction rather than assuming the final Wraith explosion ended the mission. **C-4: Infiltration of the Covenant Perimeter** You are placing three Marine snipers at separate cliff positions. The opening valley includes cloaked Elites, so watch for close attacks instead of assuming a quiet-looking path is empty. The first sniper stops at the cliff beyond the parked Phantom. Continue with the remaining two through the next valley and Jackal patrols to the second cliff. Clear its Grunt defenders and let the second sniper take position. The last escort goes through another narrow route with a Suicide Grunt and further infantry. Near the third cliff, an Elite Major and a cloaked Elite ambush you. Protect the remaining sniper while he settles into position. That completes the escort, but not the mission. Continue toward the Forerunner structure, fighting the remaining Elites and the large plasma turret with its supporting Shade and Grunts. Expect more cloaked Elites after the turret fight. Clear the remaining resistance and proceed onward. **C-5: Superstructure Stand-off** Clear the opening Grunts and the charging Brute Chieftain. An engineer then moves to the terminal and starts the first timed phase. The Regeneration Field pickup northeast of the Shade is useful here. Use it to support the engineer while you deal with the attackers, rather than saving the ability for a hypothetical later fight. Drones come from the right/east, while ground forces pressure the opposite side. A fast-firing weapon helps when the flying enemies arrive in a group. When the first phase finishes, the engineer moves south to work on disabling the device. You now have another two-minute survival phase. Keep track of that change in position; defending the old terminal does not protect the new work area. The late pressure includes another Brute Chieftain, Elites and Suicide Grunts. Keep moving enough to avoid being pinned, but remain able to intercept enemies approaching the engineer. Finish the defense through the end of the timer. Completing Monolith earns Switched Off.
