**Halo Wars: Definitive Edition — cleaning up the campaign achievements**
Finishing the campaign leaves several different checklists behind. Difficulty, gold medals, par times, skulls and timeline entries are not interchangeable, and trying to satisfy all of them on every attempt can make the cleanup unnecessarily frustrating.
This roadmap is for **Definitive Edition**. The original Xbox 360 version has a separate achievement list, including different multiplayer progression requirements. Don't use the name of an achievement alone to assume the requirements match.
**Start with the mission record**
For each of the fifteen missions, record completion difficulty, best score, time, skull and black box. Add the mission-specific challenge from its individual guide.
A useful order is:
1. Finish the campaign and learn the missions.
2. Collect the missing boxes and skulls and tackle the unusual mission challenges.
3. Improve medals and finish the difficulty runs.
4. Make a deliberate Heroic par-time pass.
This isn't mandatory, but it keeps long collection objectives from fighting your speed goals. Repairs is the obvious example: the under-four-minute core repair and waiting for twelve Spirit kills are different jobs.
**Difficulty and gold**
**Adjudicate the Arbiter** is campaign completion on Heroic; **Detour the Great Journey** is Legendary. Check that every mission is recorded at the difficulty you're pursuing, rather than assuming the ending alone is enough.
For medals, **Momma's Boy** covers your first gold and **Wall of Recognition** covers gold on every campaign mission. The score targets used throughout this guide set are:
- Alpha Base: **27,000**
- Relic Approach: **70,000**
- Relic Interior: **45,000**
- Arcadia City: **50,000**
- Arcadia Outskirts: **40,000**
- Dome of Light: **45,000**
- Scarab: **32,000**
- Anders' Signal: **30,000**
- The Flood: **35,000**
- Shield World: **55,000**
- Cleansing: **30,000**
- Repairs: **32,000**
- Beachhead: **40,000**
- Reactor: **30,000**
- Escape: **30,000**
A higher difficulty isn't the only way to improve a score. Reduce unnecessary losses, complete useful optional objectives and remove the long idle periods from the run. Check the results breakdown to see what actually cost you points.
**Crushed Colors** rewards improving a campaign score. **Epic Grinder** concerns lifetime campaign score, so it isn't a requirement to earn a million points in one mission.
**The Heroic time achievements**
Definitive Edition names one, five and all-mission milestones: **Racing the Clock**, **Hardly Tardy** and **Mr. Punctual**. Use **Heroic** for the deliberate tracking run. Don't assume a Legendary clear substitutes correctly for the Heroic requirement.
There are reports of inconsistent tracking, including runs finishing below the lower end of the displayed par range. Treat those as troubleshooting reports, not a guaranteed rule that being faster always invalidates a run. Keep your mission results, difficulty and mode recorded. If progress fails to register, a Heroic replay inside the displayed range is a reasonable recovery attempt; deleting a save is not the first thing to try.
Avoid mixing a long skull-farming objective into that pass. The goal is an efficient completed mission, not checking every optional counter again.
**Skulls and timeline entries**
There are fifteen campaign skulls and fifteen black boxes. For each skull, complete the mission's kill objective and then collect the object that spawns. Reaching the counter alone isn't the pickup.
Definitive Edition has skull milestones for the first, eight and all skulls: **Alas, Poor Andrew Thomas**, **Lovely Bunch of Coconuts** and **Graverobber**.
**Own Worst Enemy** requires a gold medal with all debuff skulls active: Fog, Sickness, Rebel Sympathizer, Rebel Supporter and Rebel Leader. Unlock those first and verify the settings before attempting the gold run. This is not a request to enable every skull indiscriminately; helpful modifiers have different score effects.
Black boxes contribute timeline entries, but collecting every box does not by itself guarantee **Halo Historian**. Skirmish-related unlocks also contribute. Check the timeline for missing entries and use its associated map, leader or game-type requirements rather than replaying campaign missions hoping another box appears.
**Keep the last few requirements separate**
The campaign co-op achievement in Definitive Edition, **Backscratcher**, requires a campaign mission in co-op. Don't substitute the original edition's entire-campaign co-op requirement without checking which game you're playing.
This roadmap covers the campaign cleanup. It is not a claim that campaign completion equals every achievement or the game's 100% completion statistic. Skirmish modes, public games, timeline conditions and other cumulative targets still have their own requirements.
