**Halo Wars: Anders' Signal — bring all three Elephants home**
*Campaign spoilers. Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, mission 8.*
The Elephant can train troops, but that doesn't make it the unit you should send ahead to discover what is waiting around the corner. You need all three Elephants back at base. Losing one fails the mission.
Keep that in mind before following the first objective arrow. Your opening production vehicle is too important to use as a scout.
**Build the opening force**
Deploy the starting Elephant and train infantry before engaging the Brutes. Marines provide general support; Flamethrowers help against the hostile infantry. Fight near your established force rather than driving the Elephant directly into the Covenant position.
Use special abilities against worthwhile targets and keep the Marines focused on threats the Flamethrowers cannot conveniently chase down. When the Spartans join, use that additional strength to finish clearing the opening and move toward the marked beacon.
You don't need to keep making infantry just because the Elephant can produce them. Once the Flood become the main threat, exposed infantry can become a liability. Keep your objective vehicle behind the force doing the actual clearing.
**Investigate Echo and establish the base**
Follow the objective toward the missing team. Clear the Flood surrounding the trapped Elephant, including the growths holding it. Don't send an escort vehicle through an area while the surrounding enemies are still attacking it from several directions.
Once rescued, bring the Elephant back along the cleared path and develop your base. Maintain income and build a force that can tackle the next rescue without leaving the base undefended. Use the Spartans for the dangerous advance and support them with units appropriate to the threats you're seeing.
Flood launchers deserve attention: taking continuous ranged damage while shooting something less dangerous can slowly wreck an otherwise adequate force. Clear the immediate source of that damage before lingering to collect supplies.
**Recover the remaining Elephant and the ODSTs**
Push toward the other marked rescue area, keeping the Elephants out of the forward fighting. Remove the Flood around the trapped vehicle, then escort it home. Clear the route before ordering it to travel; a long movement command doesn't check whether new enemies are waiting along the way.
Explore the side paths along the route for the **four lost ODST squads**. Rescue them as you secure the surrounding area rather than trying to search every side route while an Elephant is under attack elsewhere.
The mission finishes when all three Elephants return to base. Leave the final return until you've finished any collectible or training objective you're pursuing.
**The black box and Rebel Supporter**
The black box is on the tree-ringed plateau southeast of the base area. Check the semicircular side plateau off the opening route rather than looking inside the base buildings.
For **Rebel Supporter**, kill **750 Flood Infection Forms**. This is specifically the small Infection Forms, not a total of every Flood enemy or building destroyed. Watch the mission counter.
After reaching the target, collect the skull at the northern cliff edge beside the crevice, around the rescued-Elephant area. Use the brief minimap indication when it spawns to confirm the position before taking a collecting unit there. The kill objective alone does not collect it.
If you're doing the skull objective, don't complete the last Elephant's return while you're still short of the count. At the same time, don't expose the Elephants to farm kills. Keep the objective vehicles secure and let your fighting units handle the extra encounters.
**Ramblin' Man is a training challenge**
**Ramblin' Man requires using Elephants to train 100 infantry.** Units trained at your ordinary base don't satisfy that condition. This is much longer than simply making the opening force and finishing the rescue.
Use deployed Elephants for production and monitor your population cap. When you're capped, more queued training can't finish until space becomes available. You can work on the total while carrying out the rescue, but a dedicated attempt is less awkward than trying to combine it with a fast completion or a carefully preserved combat score.
Keep at least one Elephant outside the finish area until the requirement is done, and keep all three protected. Producing the hundredth unit won't help if an unattended Elephant is destroyed first.
On Heroic and Legendary, pay particular attention to Flood artillery and the survival of ordinary infantry. Don't assume a large crowd is safer than a smaller, controlled force supported by the Spartans.
**Finish and check**
Bring all three Elephants into the base after the remaining objectives are settled. **Saving the Parade** is the Definitive Edition completion achievement. The gold target is **30,000 points**. Record the black box, Rebel Supporter and Ramblin' Man separately; they are not automatically awarded just because the rescue succeeded.
