**Halo 5: Genesis, from the Guardian descent to the Gateway** **Campaign spoilers. Mission 13, Halo 5: Guardians.** Genesis starts with Osiris running down the side of a Guardian and then hands you a Scorpion. That's a pretty good change of pace after Sunaion. The catch is that the tank has to survive a road full of enemies built to destroy it, and the mission still has another fight waiting after the vehicle section is over. **1. Get off the Guardian** Follow the sloping surface downward, jumping the breaks and using thrust to correct your movement. Stay conscious of the edges. Trying to avoid a Crawler by throwing yourself too far sideways can put you into a gap you can't recover from. This isn't a fight you need to clear completely. Keep moving toward the descent route and shoot or charge an enemy only when it is actually blocking you. On Legendary, use a sheltered landing to let your shields recover if necessary, then continue. Don't stand in an exposed stretch trying to win a prolonged gunfight on a surface that's moving beneath you. Reach the scripted end of the descent, land on Genesis and follow the path into the Forerunner facility. Exuberant Witness meets Osiris there and leads you onward. **2. Take the Scorpion seriously** Exuberant provides the tank near the beginning of the ground section. Stock up at the nearby weapon racks before setting out. There are also parked Ghosts for other members of the team. If you're working on **Rolling Thunder**, you need four vehicles occupied simultaneously on Heroic or higher. It's worth arranging that before destroying every enemy Ghost you see. The achievement doesn't require four different models of vehicle. For the ordinary route, put someone in the Scorpion's gunner position and use the main cannon against vehicles and other major threats. Keep your teammates' vehicles in view when turning or reversing. The Scorpion's ability to clear a fight doesn't make it immune to friendly traffic problems. On Legendary, preserving this tank is also the goal of **Tank Still Beats Everything**. The tank can take damage; the important thing is keeping it intact through its section rather than abandoning or destroying it. **3. Clear the first battlefield from the slope** Work past the opening Ghosts and out toward the fighting beyond the bridge. The larger area contains Covenant vehicles and Promethean defenses, with additional enemies appearing as you advance. A Wraith is a more urgent threat to your tank than a distant infantry target. Watch the path of its mortar and use the available slope and rocks to limit the shots reaching you. Deal with Phaetons and Beam Turrets when they acquire a firing angle; don't leave them working on your vehicle while you concentrate on a smaller enemy. Knights can bring Incineration Cannons into the fight. When one appears, give it your attention instead of driving right past it. You can retreat to the approach you've already cleared and make it come into your line of fire. Once the area is secure, Exuberant opens the next large door. Collect nearby intel or equipment now if you want it, then bring the Scorpion through. **4. The tunnel and the Wraiths beyond it** An empty Ultra Wraith is available in the tunnel for another member of your team. Clear the immediate Ghost and airborne threat before moving into the road beyond. The Wraiths outside can do serious damage, especially on Legendary. Keep a retreat into the tunnel available. If the tank is already struggling, use the other vehicles or nearby heavy weapons to help clear the threat instead of repeatedly exposing the same damaged Scorpion. Don't leave it parked in the line of fire while you change tactics. A tank you aren't driving can still be destroyed. The crashed Pelican here has useful infantry weapons. That gives you another option if you need to fight a dangerous target on foot. Clear the active fire lanes before searching the wreckage; collecting a rocket launcher won't help if you're killed while climbing toward it. **5. Through the overpass to the light bridge** Continue toward the overpass, expecting a Knight to appear as you approach. Check for Beam Turrets and the Covenant armor fighting beyond it. Take advantage of the terrain and the fact that the enemy groups aren't all concentrating on you at once, but don't assume they'll continue ignoring the tank after you drive between them. Cross when the immediate threats are controlled, then work down the curving road. Use the rock formations as protection while clearing the remaining armor and Knights. Don't hurry into the next bend just because the previous Wraith exploded; check the next stretch before presenting the whole tank. At the inactive light bridge, wait for Exuberant to restore it. This is an objective event, not a gap you're supposed to launch the Scorpion across. **6. Beat the first Warden with the tank intact** Crossing brings out a Warden and Beam Turrets. Clear the turrets promptly, then use the Scorpion's cannon against the Warden while keeping enough distance to respond to its attacks. If the tank is too badly damaged to keep exposing, park it somewhere protected and fight on foot. The challenge is preserving the vehicle, not proving you can absorb every shot from the driver's seat. The Legendary tank achievement is documented to trigger after this first Warden encounter with the Scorpion preserved. Beyond this point the conventional route continues on foot; you aren't expected to force the tank through the terrain into the final courtyard. Take the side path uphill. This is also the area for the Tilt skull detour and several intel checks. **7. Arm up before the Gateway** The wrecked Pelican near the Gateway has a useful selection of weapons, including the special SAW **The Answer**. Give the rest of the squad useful equipment too. It is much easier to arrange that here than to swap weapons while a Warden is approaching. Choose a combination that covers distance and enemies pushing toward you. Carrying two weapons that only feel comfortable at very close range makes the opening of the final fight unnecessarily awkward. **8. Fight the pair, not both at once** Two Wardens defend the Gateway courtyard, with other Prometheans and turrets supporting them. Start from the approach and clear the enemies that force you out of cover. Keep track of both Wardens even when you're concentrating damage on one. Pick a target and work on it with the squad. Use the ramps and solid cover to break incoming attacks. If you advance for a firing angle, keep a route back rather than chasing the target into the middle of everything else. After one Warden falls, expect another surge of enemies. Reset your position, clear the immediate pressure and replenish ammunition if necessary before committing to the remaining Warden. On Legendary, the useful question is “Can I get back out of this position?” A weapon lying in the center of the courtyard isn't worth a guaranteed death trying to collect it. The entry area and weapon supply behind you give you room to fight more patiently. Once the second Warden falls, check the upper-left console for the final intel before entering the Gateway. Then follow the ending route to meet Blue Team and finish the mission for **Reclamation**.
