**Halo 4: Midnight — the last terminal, the hammer and the MCC checklist**
**MCC guide. Mission spoilers, without a retelling of the ending.**
There are two detours worth remembering in Midnight: a terminal near the beginning of the on-foot section, and the Gravity Hammer later on. Neither requires hunting around during the fighter sequence.
**The mission targets**
- **Midnight:** finish the mission.
- **Cryptum:** activate the seventh Halo 4 terminal.
- **Chief, Smash!:** kill three Crawlers with a single Gravity Hammer hit on Midnight.
- **Countdown:** finish below the **25-minute** par time.
- **Witching Hour:** beat the **25,000-point** par score.
- **Terminus:** activate all seven Halo 4 terminals. Midnight supplies the last one in campaign order, but it cannot replace an earlier terminal you missed.
I'd split the hammer cleanup from a serious time or Legendary run. The achievement asks for a particular group of kills, not a difficult setting. Making the enemies more dangerous doesn't improve the reward.
**Terminal 7: Cryptum**
Complete the Broadsword flight and enter the ship on foot. Count the rooms containing enemies, not every small passage you pass through. In the **third enemy-filled room**, go around the central structure and check its rear for the terminal.
Clear the enemies first so you can stand at it and interact without being interrupted. The collectible is before the drop down the shaft and the longer sequence of Cortana-created portals. If you are already moving between the outdoor platforms through portals, you have gone past this stop.
For a cleanup visit, Rally Point Bravo brings you into the relevant on-foot portion instead of making you repeat the fighter run. Activate the terminal and check the individual achievement before assuming your all-terminals list is finished.
The pedestal that accepts Cortana to advance the mission is not interchangeable with this collectible. Follow the terminal interaction itself; simply passing through the room doesn't count.
**Chief, Smash!: use the normal armory pickup**
Continue through the rooms, the shaft and the first portal encounters. The route eventually places you in a weapon room containing several weapons suspended above glowing recesses. Take the Gravity Hammer there.
There is no need to unlock a secret hammer or play Legendary for this achievement. The regular pickup is enough, and Easy is a sensible cleanup setting. Rally Point Bravo is also a documented starting point for this attempt.
Keep the hammer until you have a cluster of at least three living Crawlers close enough to catch in one attack. That last part matters: three separate hammer kills aren't the requirement.
A practical setup is to stop firing at a group once the Crawlers are approaching together. Back toward a position that draws them into the same approach, then swing when the group is within reach. Don't stand in a corner taking damage for ages while waiting for a perfect arrangement. If the group spreads out, reposition rather than wasting the whole hammer on isolated targets.
In co-op, tell the other players which group you're using before they shoot it. A teammate thinning the pack to two Crawlers can ruin an otherwise good opportunity. Make the three kills yourself rather than assuming several players' attacks combine into one qualifying hit.
You can leave this attempt for a separate replay if the opportunity doesn't work out. Carrying the hammer all the way through the hardest fighting is not part of the achievement, and there is no reason to make the rest of the mission harder after you have finished it.
**Time and score: finish the job you started**
For **Countdown**, use a full-mission start with the timer displayed. Learn the fighter route before trying to save seconds in the infantry sections. A fast platform fight doesn't make up for repeatedly crashing in the opening flight.
For **Witching Hour**, use scoring from a full-mission start and check the final result. Aim beyond the threshold rather than trying to stop on exactly 25,000. A score seen during the mission is not a substitute for the completed result.
Keep achievement-disabling modifiers off. Don't assume a setup that worked for a standalone collectible will also produce a valid score or time record.
The timer and score targets are separate. You can earn the mission clear, terminal and hammer achievement in one comfortable visit, then come back with a specific plan for whichever record remains. That's a much clearer cleanup process than changing difficulty, modifiers and objectives halfway through and trying to work out afterward what counted.
