**Halo 4: Reclaimer — escort the Mammoth and destroy the gravity well**
**The Master Chief Collection. Mission spoilers. Conventional route.**
The Mammoth has an enormous gun, but Reclaimer still needs you on the ground doing the awkward jobs. You'll retrieve its targeting equipment, bring down shield barriers, board a Lich and eventually leave the vehicle behind. Knowing when the objective has changed is more useful than spending the entire mission firing at whatever happens to be visible.
**Board, equip and get moving**
Follow the opening path to the Mammoth, climb aboard and meet Lasky at the marked position. Check the weapon racks and take the Jet Pack when prompted. It isn't just there to make boarding the vehicle easier; you'll want it when leaving the Lich later.
Use the Mammoth's mounted weapons against the first Covenant position. Clear the guns and infantry obstructing the route rather than jumping off into the middle of them with an assault rifle.
When the Pelicans are shot down and the Mammoth stops, the objective shifts to recovering a Target Designator. The wreck is away from the vehicle, with Covenant controlling the ground around it.
**Retrieve the designator and mark the cannon**
Remove the enemies watching the crash approach before leaving your protected position. A ranged weapon can deal with a tower gunner; a Warthog or captured Ghost can help with the ground fight. On Legendary, don't make a long exposed crossing while an active Wraith and the infantry are both tracking you.
Reach the marker and collect the Target Designator. Use it against the indicated aerial targets and, when the Mammoth is ready, the particle cannon. Give the weapon time to reload between shots. Repeatedly trying to designate a target while the support gun is unavailable doesn't make it fire sooner.
Once the cannon is destroyed, return to the Mammoth and continue with it. Use the travel time to replenish your own ammunition.
**Remove the first shield wall**
A large barrier stops the convoy. Three smaller shielded positions contain the generators powering it.
Clear the turrets and vehicles that cover your approach, then enter each generator's protective dome and destroy the device inside. You can't solve this by firing through the shielding from the other end of the battlefield.
The domes can interrupt incoming fire, but enemies can still approach you. Don't treat one as a safe room while you stop paying attention to the surrounding infantry. Move through the generators deliberately, checking the remaining objective markers after each destruction.
When all three are down, return to the convoy. Use the Target Designator on the next particle cannon once the route gives you a clear shot.
**Board the Lich**
The Lich's arrival damages the Mammoth and brings another vehicle fight. Use the available Gauss Warthog or another suitable weapon to work through the ground resistance while watching for Wraith fire.
Once the Lich positions itself over the mesa, climb toward its gravity lift. Clear the defenders on the approach and enter the green beam to board.
Inside, fight toward the reactor. Avoid charging straight into a position where enemies on different levels can fire at you together. When you have a clear shot, destroy the marked core.
Then leave. The remaining infantry are no longer worth lingering over. Drop out through the opening and use the Jet Pack to slow your descent before landing. Return to the Mammoth and let the convoy resume.
**Take a precision weapon into the canyon**
When the Mammoth can go no farther, restock before taking the footpath to its left. This is where the sniper rifle earns its place in your loadout.
The canyon has Jackal snipers on the rocks and higher ledges. Work from cover, look above the main trail and remove those firing angles before climbing into them. If you use the Jet Pack to reach a new position, remember that floating above the rocks also makes you visible. Height is only an advantage when you know what can see you.
Follow the switchbacks toward the tiered Forerunner structure. Deal with the snipers overlooking the entrance, then the closer infantry and Prometheans. Watch for charging plasma-grenade Grunts as you cross into the structure's approach; don't let a quick movement forward turn into running straight at them.
Climb through the final defenders and enter the marked doorway.
**Follow the Sentinels through the facility**
Inside, follow the Sentinels and the route they open. Take the lift and continue to the console controlling the remaining cannons.
After activating it, turn back and use the newly formed light bridge. Continue through the interior toward the blue light and the Librarian sequence.
When control returns, retrieve Cortana from the pedestal. Fight through the Prometheans guarding the exit. Before taking the next elevator, check the passage to its right for **Terminal 4**. Activate it, then return to the lift and follow the route through the portal.
**Finish the armored assault**
Outside again, take a Scorpion for the final advance. The Wraiths are the priority when their mortars have a clear line on you. Don't sit in one place trading hits just because your cannon can also hurt them.
Clear the route through the vehicles and fixed defenses, then approach the final shield barrier. Two shielded generators keep this one active. Get inside their domes and destroy them, dealing with nearby enemies before leaving your tank exposed or making the foot approach.
With the barrier gone, continue toward the cliffside objective. Collect the Target Designator there and mark the gravity well. The resulting strike completes the mission.
If you're attempting Mortardom instead of an ordinary clear, the final armored section needs a different plan: capture a Wraith and preserve enemy Wraiths as targets. Don't destroy the entire field with the Scorpion first and then wonder where the four required kills are supposed to come from.
