**Halo 4: Infinity — find the survivors and take the ship back** **The Master Chief Collection. Mission spoilers. Conventional route.** Infinity changes the kind of fight several times. You start on foot in a foggy jungle, defend a position with Marines, move into a Scorpion and eventually climb into a Mantis. Don't carry the same habits through all of it. A good position for a rifle isn't necessarily a good position for a tank, and having a Mantis doesn't mean you should stand still while every aircraft on the deck shoots you. If you're attempting **Bros to the Close**, choose Heroic or Legendary and plan to protect the six Marines in the middle jungle section. That is a separate priority from simply reaching the end quickly. **Follow the IFF trail** Head down the jungle route toward Cortana's marker. At the first bodies, examine the IFF tag and take the nearby DMR if you want a precision weapon for the fights ahead. The Knights seen at this opening scene disappear; don't waste ammunition trying to turn that scripted moment into a fight. Continue down the trail. Crawlers appear on the ground and climb through the surrounding terrain, so don't look only straight ahead. A DMR is useful for removing them before they get around your position. The shotgun near a Marine body beneath the tree arch gives you a close-range option, but save its ammunition for something more important than distant Crawlers. When Watchers and Knights begin fighting together, break up their support. Don't leave a Watcher free to undo your work while you pour all your ammunition into the Knight. On Legendary, use cover and distance rather than assuming that a close-range shotgun rush will always succeed. **Use Promethean Vision through the fog** The route brings you to the scripted struggle between a Marine and a Knight. Take the marked Promethean Vision ability afterward. It helps identify enemies through the fog instead of leaving you guessing which patch of jungle is firing at you. Clear the enemies below before dropping into their area. Continue uphill along the roots and slopes toward the next IFF markers. If the terrain starts to feel repetitive, follow the rising route and objective rather than wandering back into a clearing you've already finished. Watch the trees for surviving Crawlers. At the final marked doorway, examine the IFF tag to trigger the meeting with the UNSC survivors. **Before leaving the meeting room, turn around** Once the scene ends and control returns, look behind you. The mission's terminal is in this room. Activate it now, before following the Marines outside. Two Marines initially accompany you. More are ahead. If you're protecting them for the achievement, get out in front of the dangerous encounters instead of allowing them to absorb the first enemy volley while you search for ammunition. Outside, clear the immediate Promethean resistance, then follow the winding uphill path. You reach another Marine position under attack. Help those defenders and deal with the enemies beyond their barricades before moving up toward the door at the far end. There are useful weapons and equipment around the defensive position, including a Railgun. Pick a loadout that can remove a threatening Knight quickly. Be careful with explosives when Marines are standing between you and the target. **Hold the door while Cortana works** At the hilltop structure, use the interface beside the door to insert Cortana. The next objective is a defense, not a locked-door puzzle you can solve by repeatedly pressing the console. Use the mounted turrets and your weapons to stop the incoming Prometheans. Keeping a turret mounted avoids reducing it to the limited ammunition of a detached gun, but a mounted position can also expose you. Leave it when your shields or the enemy angle make staying there a bad decision. Prioritize enemies about to reach the Marines or establish a dangerous firing position. Watchers, Knights and the smaller enemies need attention as the waves develop; don't stare down one lane while another group crosses the hill. When the doors open, retrieve Cortana and continue through. The Marines remain behind. Move along the passage toward the next clearing. **Clear the landing zone** The Covenant and Prometheans now occupy the landing area together. A Railgun near the approach gives you another useful option against the larger targets. Fight from the entrance and available cover instead of charging into the middle. Finish the initial resistance and the reinforcements arriving afterward. Once the zone is secure, board the friendly Pelican. The mission isn't over: it takes you to the next part of the assault on Infinity. **Take the Scorpion to the ship** After landing, head down to the right and board the Scorpion. Let the friendly Spartans get into position before driving through them. The tank has the firepower to handle the Covenant line, but you still need to choose targets. Destroy the dangerous towers and enemy vehicles before rolling deeper into their combined fire. Fire, use terrain to reduce the number of enemies shooting back, and advance once the next stretch is manageable. Follow the trench toward the large vehicle lift. Drive the Scorpion onto it and ride up into Infinity. In the bay, use the tank against the boarders while watching where the friendly Marines are fighting. An explosive shell through your own side isn't a good solution to a nearby Elite. When the bay is secure, leave the tank and follow the marked maintenance route. Use the console to release the Mantis. **Bring the Mantis through the service corridors** Climb in and familiarize yourself with its gun, missiles and stomp. Destroy the door blocking the route, then continue through the interior. Use the machine gun against ordinary infantry and the missiles against tougher positions. Watch the gun's heat instead of holding it down until it stops helping you. Remove the fixed Promethean weapons before walking into their overlapping fire. The stomp is useful against an enemy that gets close. It isn't an invitation to walk directly into every group. Continue to the elevator and clear its defenders before riding up. **Destroy the three jammers and restore the MAC** On the outer deck, the three marked jammers are the first objective. Shoot the ones visible from the entrance area before exposing yourself unnecessarily. Reach an angle on the remaining device beneath the large gun structure and destroy it as well. With the jammers gone, keep fighting the aircraft and troops while the ship's defenses recover. Change position when sustained fire breaks your shields. Spare Mantis units are available near the starting sides of this deck if your original machine is badly damaged. Once Cortana gives the final objective, leave the Mantis at a safe opportunity and use the marked MAC-control interface. That last activation matters: destroying the jammers alone isn't the end of the mission.
