**Halo 4: Forerunner — both towers, the Prometheans and the escape**
**The Master Chief Collection. Mission spoilers. Conventional campaign route.**
Forerunner introduces enemies that can make you waste a lot of ammunition if you treat them like the Covenant. A Watcher supporting a Knight is often more important than the Knight you were already shooting. Crawlers don't look as imposing, but a pack getting around your cover can end the fight just as quickly.
There is also a challenge to decide on before you start: **This is my Rifle, This is my Gun** requires carrying a UNSC weapon throughout this mission on Heroic or Legendary. If you're attempting it, reserve one weapon slot for a starting UNSC gun. An empty gun still occupies that slot. Don't casually replace both weapons with Promethean equipment and expect to fix the requirement at the end.
**Leave the hub and cross the first light bridge**
Take the equipment you want from the opening area, use the console with Cortana and enter the first portal. Follow the route through the Crawlers toward the bridge control.
Use precision shots against their exposed heads rather than spraying at every moving target. They can climb and spread out, so keep checking the sides of your firing position instead of watching only the ground directly in front of you.
Activate the light bridge and cross. Respond to the prompted Knight encounter, then prepare for the ordinary fights beyond it. A scripted melee prompt doesn't mean every later Knight should be fought at arm's length.
In the next outdoor encounter, deal with the Watcher when you have a clear shot. Leaving it free to support the larger enemies makes the fight harder. Clear the nearby Crawlers so you have somewhere to move, then concentrate on the Knight without repeatedly letting it recover while you change targets.
**Reach the first tower**
Continue through the passage behind the rock structure and use the weapon supplies along the route. If you're keeping a UNSC gun for the achievement, change only your other slot.
The next open stretch contains more Crawlers on and around the raised terrain. Work toward the circular platform and the drop beyond it. Look before dropping: the next fight includes heavier Promethean resistance, and landing in the middle of the enemies gives you fewer options than clearing what you can from above.
After reaching the first tower approach, check beneath the entrance ramp for the terminal before moving into the three-generator arena. It is easier to collect while you know which entrance brought you here than to search for it after several fights and changes of elevation.
**First tower: destroy three generators**
This objective is different from Requiem's power cores. Here, the three generators need to be **destroyed** to lower the central shield.
The generators sit in the small structures around the arena: two on the right side of the approach and one on the left. Use the objective markers to confirm which remain. Don't spend ammunition on the shield around the central tower while a generator is still active.
Clear the enemies controlling one approach, destroy its generator and then change position. On Heroic and Legendary, moving through the arena in manageable sections is safer than racing between all three objectives with a group of Knights still behind you.
After the shield drops, move around to the tower's rear approach and climb. Watchers and Knights still guard the way up. Save room to retreat when a Knight closes on the ramp; a narrow route isn't a good place to test whether you can survive its melee attack.
Follow the ramps and bridge to the lift. At the top, use the beam-control console. Enter the portal that takes you back to the hub.
**Take the second portal**
Back in the hub, follow the new objective through the other portal. Collect ammunition along the corridor and drop through the opening in the floor to continue outside.
The Covenant and Prometheans are fighting each other ahead. Let that work in your favor, but don't assume the battle will solve the entire encounter for you. Pick off enemies threatening the path you're actually taking, and avoid stepping into the middle while both groups can shoot you.
Work across the area toward the route on the right, then up along the left-side rise into the next defended position. The mounted beam weapon is a threat if you stay exposed. Clear a safe angle before crossing toward the passage beyond.
Farther along, a Knight attacks the Covenant by the Ghosts. Once it is safe, take a Ghost and continue through the next battlefield. At the far left, the tunnel and ramp lead onward through the smaller courtyard toward the second tower.
**Second tower: another three generators**
The layout reverses the first tower's arrangement: two generators are to the left and one to the right of the approach. Confirm the remaining targets with the markers rather than circling the same destroyed structure.
This arena adds Covenant vehicles and aircraft to the fight. The Ghost is useful, but it isn't a reason to stop checking your surroundings. Keep moving between firing positions and use cover to interrupt incoming fire. If you get wedged into a bad angle, get out somewhere safe rather than sitting in the vehicle while it takes every shot.
Destroy all three generators. With the central shield down, approach from the rear and climb through the defenders. The enemies here include Elites, so adjust your weapon choices rather than assuming every target has the same weaknesses as the previous tower's Knights.
Cross to the lift, ride up and activate the second beam control. Take the portal back to the hub once more.
**The third portal and the final approach**
Use the newly available portal. Ahead, a Phantom brings Covenant reinforcements. Deal with the ranged threats before advancing to the door controls; a Jackal with a clear angle can punish you while you're concentrating on the objective.
Inside, another Covenant–Promethean fight is already underway. Use the entrance and available cover to work through the room. Don't chase a wounded enemy into a position where the mounted gun and the other side of the battle can both hit you.
Resupply before taking the next lift. Continue through the fight beyond and climb the left-side route toward the final platform. Approach the central console when the route is clear and activate it to advance the story.
**Escape in the Ghost**
After the sequence, take the Ghost and follow the escape route. This is a driving section through collapsing terrain, not another area to clear for kills.
Boost on clear stretches, then give yourself enough control to line up the next landing and turn. Constantly holding maximum speed doesn't help if you hit the edge of the route or launch at the wrong angle. Keep following the visible path toward the final portal.
Once you reach it, the mission ends. If you were attempting the UNSC-weapon challenge, that reserved weapon slot needed to stay intact throughout the whole mission—not just the first tower.
