**Halo: Reach — planning LASO and the three-hour Legendary achievement** **MCC campaign guide. Mission spoilers.** These are the two Reach challenges I'd leave until the ordinary Legendary route is familiar. One changes nearly every fight through skull modifiers. The other asks you to turn that familiarity into faster completed missions. Trying to learn both at once makes it harder to tell what went wrong. **Why Do This To Yourself? means the actual LASO playlist** Open Reach's campaign playlists and start **LASO Campaign**. The achievement specifically requires completing that playlist. Manually selecting Legendary and turning on a collection of skulls is not a substitute for its recorded progression. Let the playlist carry you from mission to mission. When returning after a break, resume the existing run rather than selecting an individual mission and assuming it continues the same playlist state. Before you leave a session, check what the game has actually saved. Read the selected modifiers before starting. Black Eye changes shield recovery, Blind removes the normal HUD, Famine restricts ammunition recovery, and Iron makes deaths much more expensive. Solo and co-op Iron behavior are different, so agree on the consequences before a partner commits to a risky push. There is no benefit in discovering halfway through a level that your usual retreat-and-wait shield routine no longer works. Practice a short encounter with the relevant modifiers first. Learn how you will regain shields, recognize the weapon in your hands, and preserve enough ammunition to reach the next reliable supply. **Prepare the difficult transitions** I would rehearse these parts individually before committing to a long playlist session: - **ONI: Sword Base:** the opening pressure, Target Locator opportunities and the return through the base. - **Long Night of Solace:** Anchor 9 defense, the separate corvette encounter and the hangar fighting after boarding. - **Exodus:** the atrium reinforcements and cargo-port landings, where a bad jump can undo a lot of careful combat. - **The Package:** the exposed vehicle section and the defense outside Halsey's lab. - **The Pillar of Autumn:** the final landing-pad resistance and the MAC-gun finish. Those practice sessions are preparation; they don't replace the playlist. Their value is identifying the places where you still hesitate, lose the route, or consume weapons you'll need later. In co-op, divide responsibilities. One player can watch the route while another handles a known heavy target. Call out when you're about to cross a gap or trigger the next encounter. Two players independently sprinting toward different objectives make resets more likely, not less. **Keep Your Foot on the Pedrogas** The other achievement requires the Legendary campaign missions in **under three hours**. It uses completed mission times, so you can improve individual levels rather than doing the entire campaign in one uninterrupted sitting. Keep a small record of each Legendary completion: mission, time, solo or co-op, and whether the result appeared in your stats. A quick time on a lower difficulty does not improve the Legendary total. For the cleanest tracking, stay consistent about solo or co-op while building your qualifying set. Community reports about mixed-mode aggregation and delayed unlocks vary. I wouldn't promise that combining whichever number looks shortest across different displays will always behave exactly as expected. The ordinary mission par times add up to **2 hours 35 minutes**: - Winter Contingency — 15 minutes. - ONI: Sword Base — 10 minutes. - Nightfall — 10 minutes. - Tip of the Spear — 15 minutes. - Long Night of Solace — 25 minutes. - Exodus — 20 minutes. - New Alexandria — 20 minutes. - The Package — 20 minutes. - The Pillar of Autumn — 20 minutes. That's a planning reference, not a requirement to beat every one of those pars on Legendary for Pedrogas. A slower level can be offset by a faster one. Aim comfortably below three hours rather than relying on a total that rounds to the boundary. **Improve the biggest loss first** After your first full Legendary clear, sort the times. If one mission contains ten minutes of avoidable wandering or repeated failed pushes, fixing that is more useful than shaving twenty seconds from your best level. Separate required encounters from optional cleanup. Know the control you must activate, the vehicle you actually need, and the trigger that opens the next route. That knowledge is useful even without advanced skips. A speedrun trick is only an improvement if you can perform it consistently. Repeatedly failing a jump you saw in a record run can cost more than simply fighting through the intended route. Practice those techniques separately before depending on them in a qualifying completion. Keep score-disabling or completion-disabling modifiers out of the attempt. Use the game's displayed warnings, and don't assume a skull allowed during collectible cleanup is suitable here. **If the achievement hasn't appeared** First check the recorded mission results and difficulty. Look for an omitted level, an old slower completion, or a run whose result never registered. Let the game synchronize before immediately repeating the whole campaign. For LASO, inspect playlist completion. For Pedrogas, inspect the Legendary times. They are different records answering different questions. Keeping that distinction clear can save a lot more time than another rushed attempt.
