**Halo: Reach — The Package, from the flooded outpost to Halsey's door** **MCC campaign walkthrough. Major mission spoilers.** The Scorpion is the best thing you find in the opening half of The Package, but it isn't permission to drive straight into everything. The dangerous part isn't whether its cannon can kill a turret. It's whether you can expose the cannon without exposing the entire tank to several turrets at once. Later, the mission changes completely. You leave the vehicle outside Sword Base, work through the wrecked interior, and defend Halsey's lab underground. Save your patience for that final defense instead of treating the first big explosion as the end of the difficult part. **Clear a path to the tank** Cross the flooded opening toward the occupied structures. Use the DMR to remove exposed gunners and infantry before crossing open water. The raised Covenant platforms are worth checking early: an enemy above you can keep firing while you concentrate on targets at ground level. Follow the route out of the settlement to the Scorpion. Clear the lookout overlooking it before taking the driver's seat. From here, advance by corners rather than by holding the accelerator down. Stop short of each bend, bring the turret around, and look for a target. Move only far enough to establish a shot. After firing, remember the cannon's reload interval. A destroyed Ghost is useful; driving into the next Ghost while the cannon is unavailable is not. On Normal, the tank gives you more room to recover from a messy engagement. On Heroic and especially Legendary, fuel-rod fire deserves an immediate response. Back behind a rock or slope instead of sitting still and trying to win an exchange by firing faster. **Destroy both anti-aircraft guns** The road leads to two large Covenant AA emplacements. Clear the vehicles and infantry threatening your approach. Banshees also operate overhead, so inspect the sky between ground engagements rather than discovering one after it has been firing into your rear armor. The conventional destruction method is to park safely, enter the emplacement through its lower access, break through the protection around the internal core, and destroy that core. Get back out before the structure blows. Repeat at the other gun. You can also damage the guns from a useful tank firing angle; you do not have to force a vehicle into the interior to complete the objective. If you can't obtain a reliable shot, use the ordinary interior route after clearing the surrounding enemies. Don't spend several minutes firing at an armored outer surface and assume the objective must be broken. After each destruction, check for aircraft before moving. When both guns are down, friendly Falcons can come in. Their arrival is a progress marker, not a declaration that the road to the base is now harmless. **The approach to Sword Base** The gate approach combines mobile vehicles with elevated turrets. This is where a healthy Scorpion can be ruined quickly. Use the rocks and the base wall to divide the field. Destroy the nearby lookout, then work on the fuel-rod Shade positions before driving into their overlapping range. Revenants can also punish a long stationary exposure. Withdraw between cannon shots if your firing position leaves you open. If a turret is hard to see, don't push the entire tank farther into the clearing just to improve the view. A short on-foot reconnaissance from protected ground is preferable to guessing where incoming projectiles originate. Keep the Scorpion behind cover while doing that. For **Tank Beats Everything**, this section must be played on **Legendary**, with the Scorpion brought to the Sword Base approach intact. You cannot abandon it at its original parking spot and expect the mission-end cutscene to count that as delivery. It can take damage; the task is not a pristine-paint challenge. The companion achievement guide explains the award separately. Once the route is secure and the entrance opens, leave the tank where the barriers stop it and continue on foot. Trying to wedge it through the infantry entrance isn't part of the conventional route. **Through the wrecked base** Clear the courtyard and enter the building. Follow the staircase upward, checking the Jackals and other enemies above before walking into their line of fire. This is familiar architecture in a different condition. Do not blindly repeat the path you used in ONI: Sword Base. The route now passes through broken glass into another interior section, where a control panel advances the mission. If you're collecting data pads, inspect the floor opposite that panel before activating it. **Data pad 8** is here. Once you've finished looking, use the panel and let the transition take you into the cavern. On higher difficulties, a charged plasma-pistol shot followed by a precision headshot remains useful against shielded Elites. Carrying two depleted human weapons through the base isn't a requirement. Replace a weapon when the ammunition and enemies in front of you make that sensible. **Get the lab defenses working** You emerge into the cavern with four automated defense turrets marked for activation. Switch them on and identify the routes back to the lab before the fighting becomes crowded. The supply area near the lab has weapons and armor abilities. Refill a precision weapon, take a useful answer to heavy enemies, and choose an ability you can actually use under pressure. A jetpack helps with movement, but hovering in an exposed space is not cover. The automated turrets are assistance, not permanent protection. When damaged, they shut down to recharge; they need to be reactivated when available again. Check their state between attacks. There is no benefit to sprinting across an active firing lane to reach one that isn't ready yet. **Hold the cavern** Fight from positions that let you retreat to the lab-side cover and supplies. Let Noble Team occupy enemies while you work on exposed targets. Don't follow a fleeing Grunt across the bridge and leave yourself stranded when another group arrives. Against Brutes, use precision fire or a needle rifle where available rather than exhausting explosives on every infantry target. Against shielded Elites, strip the shield before spending your headshot ammunition. If an Engineer is protecting a group, removing it can make the rest of that group much easier to handle. Heavy vehicles require a different response. Save rockets or the available Spartan Laser for a target that justifies them. A Wraith has reach; standing in the same open spot while charging or reloading invites another mortar shot. Break line of sight, reposition, and fire again from somewhere protected. You can hijack an enemy Banshee here, but this walkthrough does not require it. A difficult aerial theft is not automatically safer than using the weapons and fortified positions the mission provides. Legendary extends the defense and makes careless ammunition spending more costly. Use the quiet gaps to resupply and restore turrets. Don't mistake a pause between dropships for the final objective update. On Normal, you can be more aggressive about thinning infantry; on Heroic, keep the same cover discipline you'll need on Legendary without assuming every enemy group has an identical composition. When Halsey announces that the lab is ready, follow the updated objective and activate the entrance to finish the mission. If you intend to visit the hidden Tribute Room, stop before that final interaction: the Easter-egg route is a separate detour, not the ordinary doorway you're about to use.
