**Halo: Reach — Exodus collectibles and achievement cleanup** **MCC guide. Location and mission spoilers.** Exodus has two easy-to-miss observation achievements near the beginning, two data pads before the Falcon ride, and a much stranger detour around the coastline near the end. The no-armor-ability achievement deserves its own run. Trying to combine it with jetpack exploration is asking for another trip through the mission. **Before the first big courtyard** **No Picnic** is in Exodus, despite the description mentioning New Alexandria. That's the city you're in; you don't need to load the later mission named New Alexandria. On the opening boardwalk, look near the exit doors for the teddy-bear backpack. Stop and look directly at it. This is an observation trigger, not an item to collect or destroy. For **The Humble Beginnings of Wiljax Brantley**, continue through the dark building and suicide Grunts to the outdoor courtyard with Brutes attacking civilians. Clear the enemies. Find the food kiosk on the left side near the way forward and look at its Moa Burger advertisement. The words “EXTRA LEAN” and “NEW FLAVOR” help distinguish the relevant ad from the surrounding scenery. Give the trigger a moment before walking away. **Data Pad 6 — Info Dump** **Available on any difficulty.** After getting the Bullfrogs' jetpack, cross the cargo-port gaps and fight through the occupied platforms. Climb the stairs into the darker section with Brutes, fenced columns and an overhead L-shaped catwalk. The pad is **on that elevated catwalk**, not on the main floor. Clear the enemies below before flying up. Use the jetpack to reach the walkway, settle onto it, and interact with the pad. A corpse nearby is another useful landmark. If you've already gone through the interior lobby and emerged into the next large outdoor courtyard, you've passed this stop. Get it before continuing toward the executive wing. **Data Pad 15 — Of Patience and Partiality** **Legendary only. Keep the jetpack.** This is in the later outdoor courtyard between buildings, before the Falcon extraction. As you work up the stairs, stop before entering the next building. Follow the upper walkway to the right and look beyond its railing for the projecting structural ledges. Go over the railing onto the first ledge. Climb the sequence of beams in short stages, letting the jetpack recharge whenever you have secure footing. The destination is a pair of air-conditioning vents higher on the building; the pad sits on top. Don't try to fly straight from the courtyard to the vents on one tank. The intervening ledges are what make the climb manageable. Clear the courtyard first, too. Taking fire halfway through a careful landing is a miserable way to lose the attempt. Some older guides number these as Exodus pads **11 and 12**, using the order in which you encounter all nineteen. MCC's achievement names use **6 and 15**. They're the same two locations, not four separate collectibles. **Classic Completion — no armor abilities** The requirement is to finish Exodus without using armor abilities. **Sprint counts.** So do the jetpack and Armor Lock. Merely avoiding the jetpack doesn't satisfy it if you've been sprinting through the opening. A straightforward co-op approach is to have the player pursuing the achievement leave their ability alone for the entire mission. The partner handles the jetpack crossings; normal co-op progression can pull the waiting player forward. Finish the level, then swap roles for another run if both players need it. Easy is sufficient for this achievement, and makes the combat less intrusive. For a solo, no-modifier route, the cargo crossing needs deliberate platform jumps and gravity-hammer assistance instead of the intended jetpack. Preserve a hammer from the elevator defense if you're learning that route. It is a separate movement challenge, not something this ordinary campaign walkthrough quietly assumes you can do. I would use the co-op method before relying on a last-checkpoint restart to erase earlier ability use. That kind of shortcut also makes it much harder to tell whether you've actually completed a clean qualifying run. **Did You Major in Marine Bio?** This is a coastal exploration detour after the Falcon ride. Keep your jetpack through the mission if taking the original route. From the beach landing, follow the shoreline left toward the far cliffs. Deal with the nearby Wraith threat before attempting the climb. At the point where the cliffs meet the water, the route goes up and around the outside of the play area. A boundary countdown appears during the crossing; you must reach the next safe stretch before it expires. Continue along the cliff edge toward the broad horseshoe-shaped bay, using secure ledges to refill the jetpack. The destination is the walkway beside the distant buildings. The achievement is tied to reaching the hidden encounter area; don't assume it has failed simply because you haven't immediately spotted a Marine model. This is the awkward detour in the list. For easier cleanup, community MCC guides also document using **Acrophobia** from Rally Point Charlie to fly around the coastline toward the building marked New Alexandria. Use that as a separate exploration run, not as your par-score attempt. A [visual route reference](https://t.co/TpqOzuSsTv) is useful here because a missed cliff edge can leave you without enough fuel to recover. **Completion, time and score** - **Into the Howling Dark:** complete Exodus; use Normal or harder for this completion run. - **Quicker Than Reading the Book:** beat the **20-minute** par time. - **Parting the Sea:** beat the **30,000-point** par score in MCC. The elevator defense, landing-pad clearance and final missile controls are the important route checks for a time run. You still have to fire from the central terminal after arming both batteries. Wandering around the beach after the two battery markers clear wastes an otherwise good attempt. For score, use a difficulty and scoring setup you can finish consistently. Brutes and the beach vehicles offer substantial combat opportunities, but repeated deaths and a very slow finish can undo those gains. Keep the collectible detours and coastline excursion out of that run. My cleanup order would be: normal completion with the two early observation stops; a Legendary pad run; the hidden coastal encounter; then a separate Classic Completion attempt. Time and score come after the mission's layout is familiar. That keeps one missed requirement from spoiling everything else you're trying to do.
