**Halo: Reach in MCC — Long Night of Solace, from the beach to Jorge's last stand** *Full mission spoilers, including the ending.* Long Night of Solace changes the controls on you halfway through, then puts you back on foot inside a Covenant ship. The space battle is the part most likely to stall a Legendary run, but getting through it doesn't mean the dangerous fighting is finished. Keep the ship's corridors and the final hangar in mind when choosing weapons before launch. **Reach the launch facility** Move up the beach with Noble Team, using the rocks to break enemy sightlines. Fight toward the facility entrance rather than wandering down the shoreline after every distant Covenant. Focus on enemies controlling the doorway and the ground immediately in front of it. On Heroic or Legendary, recover your shields before crossing an exposed stretch. A teammate moving forward is not proof that every firing lane is clear. Use a precision weapon against exposed heads and reserve heavy ammunition for the enemies that are actually stopping your advance. Inside the facility, follow the route through the occupied rooms toward the launch area. Both data pads are on this ground section. The first is beside the room with the large holographic table; the Legendary pad requires a climb near the Sabre's access stairs. Collect them before boarding, because the mission does not bring you back here. Check your carried weapons before entering the Sabre. You will use an infantry loadout again after the flight. A usable precision weapon and something that handles Elites are more valuable than a nearly empty gun you have forgotten to replace. **Learn the Sabre before chasing a target** Use the displayed controls for your chosen layout. The Sabre has its cannon, missiles, boost and evasive maneuvers. Slow down when turning onto a target rather than treating boost as something that must be held constantly. Against a shielded Seraph, strip the shield with the cannon, then use missiles to finish it. Banshees are less durable. Keep firing at a target you can actually track rather than spraying ammunition across the whole sky. When incoming fire starts stripping your shields, break the pursuit. An almost-dead enemy is not worth losing your own ship. Use evasive maneuvers and move toward cover, leaving room between yourself and the station so a defensive turn doesn't become a collision. **Defend Anchor 9** The battle develops through multiple enemy groups. Listen for the incoming-wave callouts and look for the marked approach. During the early fighting, the station's defenses are not yet doing all the work for you. Once Anchor 9's weapons are active, fighting near it gives you support and something solid to put between yourself and attackers. On Legendary, use the station's rear or structures to interrupt the enemy's view, then come back out for a controlled attack. It isn't invulnerability, and hiding forever doesn't complete the objective. Prioritize a target that you can finish without crossing the entire enemy formation. If a Seraph already has damaged shields, that can be a better opportunity than beginning a fresh chase. Keep checking the threats behind you; spending too long looking at one ship makes it easy for another to stay on your tail. Complete the defense and follow the docking instruction. The next battle takes place around the corvette, with different cover and different objectives. **Disable the corvette and clear its escort** The corvette has four engines to destroy, along with its escort fighters. If attempting Wake Up Buttercup, this is the relevant encounter, not the earlier Anchor 9 defense. For a plain completion, survival matters more than chasing the three-minute challenge. Attack the engines at the rear while keeping track of the escorts. The ship's underside can help break lines of sight when you need to recover, but don't fly so close that turning becomes impossible. Return to the exposed targets when your shields are healthy. Use the cannon-and-missile combination on the Seraphs. Complete the required objectives and wait for the instruction to land on the corvette. Approach the marked landing area instead of trying to enter a random section of hull. **Board through the communications area** The first section aboard is in low gravity. Your jumps carry differently here, so avoid launching yourself across a room before checking where you will land. Deal with the Rangers around the entry and proceed through the shielded opening into the communications area. Clear the defenders and follow the newly opened route toward the hangar. Check available weapon racks as you go. Don't rely on a weapon left on the floor several rooms earlier remaining there after the next area loads. At the hangar entrance, the Engineer can give the defenders extra protection. Remove it when you have a clear shot, then work on the infantry from the doorway and adjoining cover. Ranged Elites on the opposite balcony are a reason to stay out of the center of the room. On Legendary, let aggressive enemies approach your protected position instead of charging into the full group. Clear the remaining marked defenders, then use the hangar control to admit the Pelican and its cargo. **Reach the bridge and change the course** Use the Pelican's supplies to replenish. The route now takes you through the ship toward the navigation controls. Expect resistance through the connecting corridors and rooms; don't mistake the cleared hangar for a cleared ship. At each doorway, stop long enough to identify the shielded threat before pushing through. Deal with the bridge defenders, then use the marked navigation control. That advances the plan and sends you back toward Jorge. The return has fresh enemies. Keep enough ammunition for them rather than treating the control interaction as the end. Work back through the intervening rooms and reenter the hangar. **Hold the hangar with Jorge** Clear the enemies already attacking the Pelican, then prepare for further reinforcements. They enter from more than one side and from upper positions. Watch the doors and balconies instead of planting yourself in the center and trying to react to everything at once. Use the supplies while there is a pause. Keep a shield-stripping weapon or suitable heavy weapon ready for the final Elites. If using an energy sword, judge the approach carefully; a lunge into several enemies is a very different proposition from catching one Elite around a corner. On harder settings, use the solid cover to separate the firing angles and keep Jorge between the group and your flanking route where practical. A Drop Shield can give you a recovery opportunity, but don't assume an enemy cannot follow you into it. After the last defenders are cleared, return to Jorge and follow the objective interaction. The ending is a story sequence. You haven't missed a hidden escape route or failed an extra timer when the scene takes over.
