**Halo: Reach in MCC — Tip of the Spear's pads, Zealot and achievement checklist** *Mission spoilers. MCC requirements.* The mining facility is worth slowing down for. It contains a logo achievement, the escaping Zealot and the first data pad. The second pad is on the broken overpass after you leave. Get those stops organized before worrying about the fifteen-minute timer. **Mind the Skill Gap: look at the BXR logo** As you approach the mining facility between the two anti-aircraft guns, find the large **BXR logo on the orange outer wall**. Face it directly and look at it for a few seconds; zooming in helps keep the logo centered. This can be done on Easy. You aren't searching for a hidden button or entering the old BXR button combination. The joke is in the mining company's name and logo. Observe the sign, check the unlock and continue up the walkway. **Your Heresy Will Stay Your Feet: don't let the Zealot leave** Use **Normal or harder**. Inside the mining-facility section, follow the upper walkway past the turret. Near the assault-rifle rack, the route turns toward the lower building with the damaged roof. The Elite Zealot here is the target. When the mission identifies it, concentrate your fire instead of clearing the whole area first. Strip its shields and finish it promptly. If it cloaks and retreats, keep tracking the route it took; simply removing its shields does not satisfy the achievement. Don't mistake its escape for a mission failure. You can still finish Tip of the Spear, but you will need another attempt for this particular award. If you have a checkpoint before the encounter, use it before a later save replaces the opportunity. Otherwise replay the section. Avoid rushing into sword range when it turns to fight. A plasma-pistol overcharge and a precision finishing shot are a useful combination if available. The requirement is killing this Zealot before it escapes, not killing any Elite wearing similar armor later at the Spire. **Data pad 4 — Rampant Speculation** Continue through the damaged mining building and drop to the lower interior near the ordnance marker. **Before walking outside to the Ghosts and Revenant**, turn left and inspect the shelving behind the green crates. The pad is on that shelf. Interact with it before leaving the building. It is available on any difficulty, and you don't have to kill the Zealot to make it appear. **Data pad 13 — Meddling and Madness** This one requires **Legendary**. After leaving the mining facility, take the vehicle route through the canyon toward the second anti-aircraft gun. Look for the ruined roadway: a section of bridge remains elevated above the ground, with a damaged Warthog on it. The pad is on that surviving road section near the Warthog. Use the broken concrete supports to climb up. Parking the Revenant close to the first broken pillar gives you a useful extra step: 1. Get onto the vehicle, then onto the low broken support. 2. Jump across to the next usable concrete surface. 3. Reach the intact bridge section and inspect the ground beside the vehicle. 4. Read the pad before dropping back to the main route. Clear nearby enemies before climbing. The exposed supports are a bad place to discover that a Wraith is still ranging your position. Take the jumps one at a time and make sure you've landed securely before setting up the next. You don't need to knock the Warthog off the bridge. That would remove a landmark and does nothing to collect the pad. The objective is getting yourself onto the road surface. **The mission awards** - **To War:** complete Tip of the Spear. - **Generous Tipper:** finish below **15:00**. - **Bake That Cake:** beat **30,000 points** in MCC. - **Mind the Skill Gap:** observe the BXR logo. - **Your Heresy Will Stay Your Feet:** kill the fleeing Zealot; use Normal or harder. - **Rampant Speculation:** read data pad 4. - **Meddling and Madness:** read data pad 13 on Legendary. Older Reach score tables can show **15,000** for this mission. That is not the MCC par-score target above. **Swift and Shallow**, the campaign Banshee-hijack achievement, is another possible task near the Spire. It isn't required to finish this mission. Keep that attempt separate if chasing an aircraft is getting in the way of the tower assault. For a score run, the enemy vehicles and heavier defenders provide useful opportunities. Keep the scoring display visible, avoid needless deaths and finish with a cushion above 30,000. A promising total partway through does not protect you from later penalties or a falling time multiplier. For the timer, leave the broken-bridge climb and logo inspection for another visit. Know where the mining-building route drops down and be ready to board the Falcon as soon as the second-gun fight is finished. At the Spire, clear the upper defenders and use the shield control; lingering after the fight because you haven't found the control is wasted time, not additional progress. For the collection run, slow down. The two pads are both before the Falcon ride. Once you're already approaching the Spire from the air, you've passed the useful part of the mission for those pickups.
