**Halo: Reach in MCC — Nightfall's two data pads and mission achievements** *Nightfall spoilers. MCC numbering and achievements, not the original Xbox 360 list.* Nightfall has data pads **3 and 12**. The first is almost beside your starting position. The second is above the riverbed later in the mission and requires Legendary. If you want both in one trip, select Legendary and start from the beginning. The pads are little readable devices, not skulls. Approach and interact with each one. Walking over the correct patch of ground without opening the pad is not the collection step. **Data pad 3 — Meeting of the (Artificial) Minds** At the beginning, before following Jun into the first big encounter, keep to the **right-hand canyon wall**. Look for the narrow side path branching away from the main route. Follow that small passage and examine the ground beside its **left wall**. The pad is there. Read it, then return to the main path and continue with Jun. This pad is available on any difficulty. There is no opening Elite you have to kill to make it appear; that is a different mission's collectible. If you're using an older guide that calls this Nightfall's “pad5,” check the route rather than assuming the number means a different item. Some guides number the normal and Legendary pads together in mission order. MCC calls this one **data pad 3**. **Data pad 12 — Unsolved Mysteries** Use **Legendary**, and approach through the mission rather than loading directly into Rally Point Bravo. The collection route passes the Gúta and the settlement where the militia are fighting, then enters the riverbed on the way to the hydroelectric plant. Follow the riverbed until you reach the natural stone arch. This is the landmark to stop at, before the pylon defense. You need to reach the upper rock shelf, not continue along the bottom of the channel. One documented approach uses the **rock and projecting branch on the left side of the arch**: 1. Get onto the low rock beside the wall. 2. Jump from there onto the projecting branch. 3. Use the branch to reach the top of the stone arch. 4. Cross the arch and turn right onto the sloping rock shelf. 5. Follow the ledge toward the tree and look for the pad on the ground. Take the jumps individually. Stop on each secure surface before setting up the next one, and use a crouch-jump where the lip catches your feet. Don't turn a failed jump into an uncontrolled series of extra jumps toward the canyon edge. There are alternative climbs along the surrounding rocks. The important destination is the elevated shelf **to the right of the rock bridge**, between the militia's pumping-station area and the hydroelectric plant. If you reach the large Covenant pylon and begin defending Jun, you've gone past the intended collection stop. For a visual reference to the branch-and-arch approach, the linked [Nightfall pad guide](https://t.co/n7X5QP6sT1) is the visual reference provided alongside the written collectible guide. Different field of view and movement settings can make a jump look shorter on someone else's screen; use the surfaces, not a guessed number of seconds holding Sprint. **Nightfall's fixed achievement targets** - **I Need a Weapon:** complete Nightfall. - **Now Just You Gúta Minute:** beat the mission's **10-minute par time**. - **Moon's Out, Goons Out:** beat the MCC par score of **7,500**. - **Meeting of the (Artificial) Minds:** find data pad 3. - **Unsolved Mysteries:** find data pad 12 on Legendary. The Gúta pun in the time achievement is not an instruction to kill the creatures in sixty seconds. It is the mission's par-time award. Likewise, the original game's **10,000-point** figure is not the MCC target used here. For the score attempt, use the scoring display and finish with room above 7,500. Pick difficulty and scoring modifiers you can actually survive. A run full of deaths and resets is not automatically better because its theoretical multiplier is higher. For the time attempt, collect the pads separately, know the route through the compounds and keep moving once the pylon defense finishes. The first pad is close, but the second involves a climb that has no place in a tight timer attempt unless you already have a large margin. This guide does not depend on clipping through the gate with the forklift. For the Legendary collectible attempt, the slow, conventional route is fine. Read the opening pad, work through to the riverbed, get the second and confirm the unlock. There is no need to add a speedrun requirement to a platforming detour that can already be awkward enough.
