**Sword Base — both data pads, the double-Wraith strike and Reach Racer**
**Halo: Reach in MCC. Mission spoilers.**
Sword Base has two data pads in very different places. One is outside on a cliff behind Farragut Station. The other is inside the base during the final climb. Don't finish the outdoor objectives expecting both to be somewhere near the rocket launchers at the end.
**Data Pad 11: behind the communications building**
This pad requires **Legendary**. After the opening courtyard and Wraith fight, travel to Farragut Station, the communications objective.
Clear the compound and climb the building with the array switch. At the back of that rooftop is a broken wooden extension pointing toward the adjacent cliff. That's your crossing, not a jump from the highest antenna.
Keep Sprint available. Take a running approach along the extension and jump the gap onto the rock ledge. Line up the landing before committing; trying to correct a sideways jump at the last moment is a good way to slide off.
Once on the cliff, follow the ledge toward the water, keeping the rising rock on your left and the drop on your right. The pad lies where that rock rises beside the path. Interact for **What Does It All Mean?**
A grenade jump isn't required for the normal route. Clear the enemies before attempting the crossing so you're not trying to balance on the ledge while being shot. If you fall, use whatever checkpoint the game actually gives you; don't assume it preserved the exact state before the jump.
**Data Pad 2: under the atrium stairs**
This pad is available on **any difficulty**.
Finish both outdoor objectives, return through Sword Base's gate, clear the Hunter room and take the elevator. As you climb the atrium, you cross between the two sides using the connecting walkways.
Near the fourth-floor route, look for the room with the large square windows beside its walkway. A staircase/ramp runs up toward the next floor. Go underneath it, against the rear part of the room, and inspect the pad on the floor.
The MCC achievement is **Read Halsey's Journal**. Collect it before carrying on to the broken upper wall and aircraft fight. It isn't a terminal in Halsey's later underground laboratory; that's a different visit to Sword Base in a different mission.
**Two Corpses in One Grave**
Use **Normal or harder**. The minimum is important even though the brief description only mentions destroying two vehicles with the target locator.
The convenient pair are the two Wraiths just outside the base after the initial courtyard. Pick up the locator in the vehicle-access building, then watch the tanks from cover. Wait until they are near one another and call the barrage into their shared area.
Stay out of the marked impact zone and keep moving away from incoming mortar fire. The goal is two vehicle kills from the same strike, not one Wraith with each of your two available calls.
If only one is destroyed, retry from a checkpoint that restores both tanks and the locator. If your saved state is already after one tank died, it won't produce the same attempt. You don't need to replay the whole campaign; a clean mission start is always an unambiguous setup.
Don't weaken both tanks until one explodes accidentally, and don't let a co-op partner finish the second with rockets just as the barrage arrives. Agree on the target before firing.
**Forza in the Fall: the two switches**
This is the Reach Racer Easter egg. It needs **two players positioned at separate hidden switches**, activated together. Any difficulty works. On Xbox, a second local player is an option; don't assume the PC version has native split-screen just because a console guide uses two controllers.
After opening the outdoor area:
- Send one player toward the coast southeast of the Farragut communications buildings. Search the pile of rocks near the frozen waterfall, just left of and slightly behind the small tree. Move slowly until the interaction prompt appears.
- Send the other beyond the anti-aircraft gun to the rocks and trees overlooking the walled complex on the ice below. Find the second interaction prompt there.
The prompt refers to opening a door; you aren't looking for a normal brightly marked mission switch. Once both players have it, count down and activate together. The game moves you into the race setup, awarding **Forza in the Fall** when it registers.
If you can't find the exact activation point on the rocks, use the linked visual reference below rather than wandering around the entire map. This is one of the few places where seeing the rock formation is much clearer than adding another paragraph of approximate compass directions.

**Completion and the two pars**
**Protocol Dictates Action** is the mission clear. **Just Like Storming a Castle** asks for a finish below **10:00**. **Still Sharp** asks you to beat **25,000 points** in MCC, not the original Reach score reference of 40,000.
For time, know the switches: generator, array, AA reset, base gate, then the interior route. Wandering between the two Farragut buildings because you activated only the generator is an avoidable delay. Leave the cliff pad and racer switches for another visit.
For score, the vehicle encounters and final aircraft give you valuable targets. Use the score display, avoid friendly casualties and finish before a slow run eats into the result. You don't need to adopt an endless dropship-farming method just because an old guide describes one.
One additional opportunity is **What About Bob?** Sword Base can include a white-armored BOB rather than the gold Ranger appearance associated with that secret. The return courtyard or upper interior is worth checking as you fight through. The color alone doesn't make every ordinary white Elite count; confirm the actual unlock instead of treating any Ultra kill as proof.
