**ODST's 29 city recordings: a location checklist that won't mix up the story order**
**For Halo: The Master Chief Collection.** This is a map companion, not a claim that every turn through New Mombasa fits into one short list. It covers the city pickups; the final Data Hive recording is in the next guide.
There are two different numbers people mean when they say “audio log twelve.” One can mean the twelfth location on a guide's map. The other can mean the twelfth part of Sadie's story in your VISR database. Those are not a reliable way to identify the same physical place.
The city terminals deliver the story in sequence. If you collected recordings while exploring, don't jump to a guide's last marker just because you have twenty-eight entries. Your missing terminal could be somewhere you passed an hour earlier.
**Choose a map and keep its numbering**
Open the [numbered Halopedia audio-log map](https://t.co/DmUGM6CkFc) alongside this checklist. It starts with marker 1 on the western side of the city and ends with 29 near Kikowani Station. These are **that map’s location numbers**, not fixed story identities. The map is also hosted on Halopedia’s [audio-log reference page](https://t.co/09BcsnMWBD).
Do not combine the numbers below with a GamesRadar map or a different video route. Several guides visit the same terminals in different orders. That's enough to make a complete collection look as though it is missing half the city.
For each marker, place your waypoint, reach the correct street, then use the landmark to find the device. Some are inside buildings or above street level; the shortest straight line on the map is not necessarily a usable path.

**Make the collection pass easy to verify**
A post-campaign solo cleanup on Easy is a straightforward option. You aren't trying to prove anything by doing the search on Legendary. You want access to the city, enough breathing room to inspect doorways, and a collection state you can follow without mixing it up with someone else's session.
When a terminal is nearby, the city can draw attention to it through ringing phones, alarms, lights, and signs. Turn on VISR and look for the highlighted device. Those clues are particularly useful when your waypoint appears to land on a blank wall: inspect the nearest entrances and the level above or below you instead of repeatedly circling the same patch of pavement.
Clear an immediate threat before using a terminal. After collecting, open the recording list and confirm the count changed. Then mark the physical location off your checklist. If it did not change, record that uncertainty now rather than assuming the achievement notification will catch up later.
Keep a simple note such as “marker twelve checked, already collected” or “marker nineteen newly collected, total twenty-seven.” That separates places you inspected from recordings you actually added. It also makes recovery much less frustrating if you die, reload, or discover one marker never registered.
Supply caches unlock as you find recordings. A Mongoose can shorten the longer trips once available, but you still need to get off it for narrow entrances, stairs, and the terminal interactions. Park somewhere you can identify again rather than driving into every enclosed courtyard.
Before leaving the city, confirm **twenty-nine recordings in the database**. Do not substitute twenty-nine map ticks for that check. If one is missing, revisit uncertain locations while you still have the city route in front of you. Data Hive's special final room depends on the recordings, not on how thoroughly you remember searching.
