**Data Hive achievements: rear melees, a flame grenade and the last recording**
*MCC. Major mission and audio-story spoilers.*
Data Hive has enough going on without accidentally following an achievement list for the wrong release. The original game's flamethrower award is not the same thing as MCC's flame-grenade challenge. The last audio recording also has a prerequisite outside this mission, so check that before you start searching underground.
**The mission checklist**
- **Data Hive:** finish on any difficulty in MCC.
- **Overtaken By Events:** finish under **16:00**.
- **Magic Touch:** finish above **8,000 points**.
- **Strong, Silent Type:** assassinate three Brutes in a row on Data Hive.
- **Firefly:** kill a Drone with a flame grenade on Data Hive.
The final audio pickup can also complete **Audiophile**, MCC's thirtieth-recording award, and **Record Store Owner**, for all thirty. The original Xbox 360 **I Like Fire** requirement—ten flamethrower kills—is not a separate MCC task.
**Strong, Silent Type**
Use Data Hive's **Rally Point Echo** for a focused attempt. After the drop and short approach, three Brutes are facing the data-center door: two regular Brutes and a Chieftain.
Get behind them and perform three consecutive rear-melee kills. In ODST, this means the back-smack kill, not a later game's extended assassination animation. Turn on scoring/medal feedback if you want confirmation that a kill registered as a rear melee.
Easy makes the approach less punishing. Move promptly while their attention is on the door. If one turns, don't start shooting other enemies in between the three required kills. Reposition behind it or retry the setup if the opportunity is gone.
The Chieftain is the awkward one. You may need to evade his attack and get behind him rather than expecting him to stand still while you walk around. Your ally can also disturb the group. The documented route is convenient, not a guarantee that all three will remain oblivious every time.
**Firefly is a grenade kill**
Look for flame grenades dropped by the cloaked Stalker Brutes in the earlier corridors. Pick them up and make sure the flame grenade is the selected type before throwing.
Save one for a Drone that has landed or is close to a surface where the fire can reach it. Trying to hit a fast-moving airborne Drone with your only grenade is much less forgiving. Throw, let the fire do its damage and check that the Drone actually dies from it.
A flamethrower kill is not the specified action. Neither is a spike grenade merely because the enemy dies in a bright explosion. The achievement asks for the flame grenade specifically.
**Recording thirty: the officer is the key**
Collect and verify the first **twenty-nine recordings in Mombasa Streets before entering Data Hive**. Keep a note of what the in-game audio list actually shows, not just what you remember visiting on the map.
With that prerequisite satisfied, the NMPD officer follows you farther down than he normally would. Keep him alive through the lower Brute corridor. After the fighting, follow him to the side-room detour instead of continuing down the main route toward Dare.
He opens the room associated with the end of Sadie's story. Go inside and locate the recording device. The encounter can turn hostile, so don't assume this is a harmless supply-room conversation and turn your back on an armed character indefinitely.
If the officer stays behind or dies before opening the room, the normal progression path won't magically supply the final recording elsewhere. Recheck the city-log state and replay the needed section. Don't delete your save as a first troubleshooting step.
Halo Support’s published troubleshooting documentation describes ODST audio-log progress loss after death and an all-logs achievement that can fail to unlock. The known-issues page is explicitly dated July 12, 2023, for build 1.3232.0. Those documented reports are a precaution, not confirmation that every issue still occurs in the current build. That makes verification important. An unlocked individual notification and a complete in-game audio list are different pieces of evidence; check both before declaring the collection finished.
**Sixteen minutes and eight thousand points**
For the timer, learn the corridor exits, the data-stack controls and the required interactions with Dare. The officer detour and collectible checking are distractions from a clean time attempt.
For score, fight efficiently rather than running past everything simply because the numerical target is lower than other missions. Brutes and Drone groups provide opportunities, but deaths and time still affect the recorded result. Keep a margin above 8,000 and complete the mission.
The escort is part of that finish. Do not celebrate the target number while the Engineer is still under fire. Clear the route, protect him at the doors and reach the final elevator before checking the completed score.
