**Data Hive: get down to Dare, then get the Engineer back out** *MCC walkthrough. Major late-campaign spoilers.* The flashbacks are over. Data Hive follows the Rookie into the underground facility, and the objective changes halfway through: first find Dare, then protect the Engineer she came for. The repeated rooms can make the descent feel more confusing than it is. Follow the open corridor and the data-stack controls rather than trying every locked door. Before entering, settle your audio-log plan. The thirtieth recording depends on having the first twenty-nine city recordings collected. It is not a normal pickup sitting on the compulsory path for every player. **Get equipped and follow the open corridors** After the initial drop, check the fallen officers for a shotgun and ammunition. A plasma pistol is useful against armored Brutes and shielded Jackals; pair it with a weapon that can finish the exposed enemy without a long exchange. Use the corridor corners to limit incoming fire. Stopping just short of a doorway lets you see the next room without giving every enemy in it a shot at you. On Legendary, a short retreat to recover stamina is much cheaper than trying to finish one more Brute while already badly hurt. The circular rooms connect through side passages. Clear the immediate threats, locate the open passage and keep moving toward the next objective. There is no benefit to circling the room repeatedly after the route is clear. **The officer and the data-stack drops** You meet an NMPD officer during the descent. Use the computer beside the data stack to raise it, deal with the emerging Drones and drop to the next sublevel. Keep VISR available for the cloaked Brute Stalkers in the corridors. They can leave flame grenades, which are useful for the Firefly achievement, but do not run out of cover to grab one while the remaining enemies are shooting. At the next data-stack descent, the officer's behavior depends on the audio-log state. If you have all twenty-nine city recordings, keep him alive and follow his later detour. If he does not follow you down, don't assume you can force the last recording's room open by waiting at a different door. **The long Brute corridor** The lower passage contains a sustained sequence of armored enemies. Work between the available cover rather than advancing until every Brute in the corridor can see you. A charged plasma-pistol hit can help against ordinary Brute armor; the heavy Chieftain at the end should not be treated as an identical target with identical defenses. Keep a heavy weapon or grenades available for that last threat. If you use explosives, check that the officer is not moving into the same narrow space. For the audio-log route, his survival matters beyond this fight. Before taking the descending path onward, inspect the cold dead-end branch if you want the flamethrower. It is optional equipment, not a key required to open Dare's door. Its slow movement can be a liability if you carry it into every exposed corridor. **Reach Dare and cross the hive** Continue through the next combat area and interact at Dare's door when prompted. After the reunion, follow her through the facility, using cover against the scattered infantry and the Drone swarms. A shotgun or SMG is useful when Drones close in, while a precision weapon helps with enemies staying farther away. Reload between groups rather than waiting for another swarm to arrive with an empty magazine. Activate the elevator and continue across the hive's bridges. Watch the floor as well as the enemies. Backing away from a Drone while forgetting the edge is a particularly frustrating way to lose progress. **Open the data center** Near the data-center door, a Chieftain and two other Brutes are focused on breaking in. This is the location used for Strong, Silent Type, but you do not need three rear melees for ordinary progression. For a normal fight, remove the supporting Brutes and keep room to evade the hammer. Don't stand directly in front of the Chieftain expecting a last-second shotgun blast to solve the charge. Clear the defenders, enter when access is granted and interact to continue the story. **Escort the Engineer** Now the Engineer must survive. Stay close enough to see what is attacking him and remove enemies along his route before chasing distant kills. Grenades thrown casually into his path can create exactly the problem you're supposed to prevent. Fight through the bridge encounter, reunite with Buck and continue down into the next passage. Look for Drones overhead; an apparently empty floor does not mean the corridor is clear. When a door requires the Engineer, wait nearby and protect him instead of running away to search for another control. Clear the final threats, move with the group to the elevator and finish the extraction from the hive. The safest pace here is deliberate, not slow for its own sake: clear the angle, move the group, replenish when the route is quiet. Rushing ahead alone doesn't make an escort objective finish sooner if the person you need is still pinned behind you.
