**NMPD HQ: cross the rooftops without giving the snipers a free shot** *MCC walkthrough. Mission spoilers. Normal, Heroic and Legendary.* Romeo begins with a sniper rifle and pistol, which is a very useful pairing for the rooftops ahead. The temptation is to spend the rifle on everything. Resist that. Use the pistol against exposed Grunts and save precision ammunition for the enemies that are dangerous to approach. If you're doing **Shoot and Scoot**, don't fire the sniper at all. Trade it out for another weapon and follow the restricted-loadout advice in the achievement guide. The ordinary route below assumes you are allowed to use it. **First rooftop: stay above the fight** Follow Buck through the security doors and approach the first open area from the upper walkway. Deal with the Brute leading the infantry, then thin the lighter enemies. Remove the Shade gunner before moving into the area it covers. A Phantom brings more troops. Keep using the doorway and raised walkway rather than dropping straight into the middle of the group. Buck can draw attention, but he is not a promise that every enemy will ignore you. Once the fight is controlled, move through the connecting lobby to the next exterior space. Clear the turret overlooking the steps and the Jackals on the higher approaches before climbing toward them. The crates and pillars are there to break lines of sight; move between them instead of trying to win a stationary exchange in the open. **Refill before the sniper balconies** Check the interior room with the fallen officers for sniper ammunition. This is worth doing before opening the next sightline, not after you discover your rifle is empty halfway through a fight. At the next exit, pause behind the pillar and inspect the distant balconies and bridge. The Jackal snipers can punish a blind step forward, especially on Legendary. Expose yourself to one angle at a time, remove the visible shooter and then edge out to see the next position. The incoming Jump Pack Brutes complicate this area. Keep the Shade position clear, because another enemy can take over an abandoned turret. Don't become so focused on a Brute moving nearby that you forget a surviving sniper above the walkway. **The last buildings before the crane** Continue through the interior passages, checking available health and ammunition. In the next courtyard, clear the elevated sniper and turret before pushing up the stairs. More Brutes emerge, including a heavily armed Chieftain. Fight that group from cover and make the smaller enemies stop shooting before committing all your attention to the heavy one. A detached plasma turret is a useful option if ammunition is running low, but carrying it makes movement slower. Put it down if getting to cover matters more than keeping the gun in your hands. Move through the cleared doorway and downstairs toward the landing platform. Deal with the enemies overlooking the route to the wreck, particularly the fuel-rod threat and snipers. Then cross the narrow crane structure toward Mickey and Dutch. The aircraft overhead can make this crossing feel urgent. Keep your feet on the structure. Leaping sideways to chase a Banshee is a worse answer than reaching the far platform with your health intact. **Defend the crashed Pelican** Clear the infantry around the wreck before settling onto a missile pod. The mounted pods are the main answer to the arriving aircraft: while mounted, they have unlimited ammunition. Detaching one sacrifices that advantage. Each position covers different approaches. Watch both sides and move to the other launcher when an approaching Phantom falls outside your current angle. Don't keep firing into scenery simply because the weapon is already in your hands. Banshees are immediate attackers; Phantoms also bring more infantry. Concentrating fire on an arriving dropship can prevent another ground fight. If troops do get down, leave the launcher long enough to stop them flanking your position, then return to the aircraft. On Heroic and Legendary, the danger is often divided attention. Listen to the squad's callouts, check the ground around the platform and avoid standing in the same exposed spot when you're already hurt. In co-op, splitting the air approaches between players is more useful than everyone competing for the same target while the opposite side fills up. Keep defending until the scripted closing sequence begins. There is no secret door to search for at the crash site; the fight is the objective. The last scene is a story event, not another playable boss encounter that you have missed.
