**Tayari Plaza achievements: the three-minute run and the Marine you shouldn't lose**
*MCC. Mission spoilers.*
Tayari Plaza is short, but its achievements pull you in different directions. A score run wants useful kills. A time run wants you at Dare's pod almost immediately. Protecting a Marine wants you to notice what's happening behind you.
**The mission targets**
- **Tayari Plaza:** complete the mission; Easy qualifies in MCC.
- **Bill Past Due:** finish under **3:00**.
- **Survey Says...:** beat **8,000 points**.
- **Those Left Behind:** finish with at least one Marine alive.
- **Two Places, Same Time:** fight alongside Chips Dubbo; the early Marine encounter is the opportunity here.
The Recon helmet inspected in Mombasa Streets belongs to the clue trail, not a second collectible hidden inside this flashback. There is no audio-log sweep or skull hunt to perform on Buck's daytime route.
**Those Left Behind**
Choose Easy for a dedicated rescue attempt. That isn't mandatory, but it gives the fragile Marines a better chance.
Protect the first pair you meet near the wrecked Warthog. Get ahead of them, remove Brutes and turret operators before they march into the firing lane, and avoid tossing explosives where they are about to run. You need one living Marine, not every Marine in the level.
An established strategy is to lead the first pair into the building with the fallen Covenant, go upstairs, and drop back to the street yourself. That delays their path back to you while you move through the first security door. It can keep them away from the later fighting. Don't describe it as guaranteed AI behavior: if they catch up, continue protecting them instead of assuming they're safely locked away.
The later Marines are surrounded by danger, so don't abandon a healthy early survivor merely because another group exists ahead. Finish at Dare's pod and check the award after the ending sequence.
**Two Places, Same Time**
Listen when the early Marines call Buck over and fight alongside Chips rather than racing past the encounter. You don't need to attack an ally, arrange his death, or perform a complicated dialogue-reset routine. This is a character encounter, not a hidden object on a roof.
Do it on a normal exploration run. Waiting for conversation while chasing a three-minute record is an unnecessary conflict.
**Bill Past Due**
Three minutes is a tight target, not the expected length of the walkthrough. Use Easy and a visible timer while learning the direct route. Know which security doors need interaction and where the pod's prompt is before starting a serious attempt.
Cut unnecessary combat rather than turning each corner into a full clear. At the same time, don't let a sniper or blocked route repeatedly kill you because you are treating every enemy as optional. The efficient route is the one you can repeat, not the one that depends on escaping every dangerous encounter with a sliver of health.
Save the Marine-preservation and dialogue attempts for another pass. Complete the mission in a single sitting for the time record and confirm the finished result.
**Survey Says...**
The MCC target is **8,000**, not the original game's 25,000 campaign score. Enable scoring and use a difficulty/modifier combination that still lets you move through the level cleanly.
Precision kills on exposed infantry and efficient fights against armored enemies are preferable to spending several magazines on every target. Avoid repeated deaths and friendly fire. Don't assume killing an abandoned vehicle will provide the points suggested by an old ODST guide: MCC's empty-vehicle scoring behavior was changed.
A scoring run can take longer than the par-time route, but time still affects its result. Finish with a margin above the target rather than stopping as soon as the counter briefly crosses it.
Your clean checklist is completion, time, score, one Marine survivor, and the Chips encounter. The rest of the city exploration happens when you return to the Rookie.
