**Halo 3 in MCC: Cortana's Tilt skull and the terminal people miss**
*Mission spoilers.*
Both collectibles are in the same large chamber, but they are on opposite sides of its floor: the skull is overhead, and the terminal is underneath. Finding one doesn't mean you've found the other.
Start **Cortana from Mission Start on Normal or harder** for the physical Tilt skull. The special terminal can be activated on any difficulty. Leave optional gameplay modifiers off for a straightforward collection run.
**Find the correct room**
Continue past the early Pelican chamber and the subsequent Flood passages. You eventually drop into a large circular, bridge-like room with remnants of Covenant architecture under the growth. There is a dead Elite near the entry area and a raised central section.
This is before the tall climbing chamber, reactor, and Cortana's prison. Don't confuse the hidden terminal with the glowing sphere you break during the rescue.
Clear enough enemies to explore safely. Killing every enemy is not a terminal requirement, but trying to read an interaction prompt while several ranged forms shoot you isn't much fun.
**The special terminal: go down first**
From the entry side, face across the room toward its onward exit. Turn right and take the sloping route downward. Follow the next ramp beneath the central platform.
Look for the device in the lower area, near the gravity hammer and equipment. Approach and interact with it. Instead of the usual terminal pages, this triggers a Cortana message.
That is **The Coin's Fault**. It is a separate interaction from rescuing Cortana later. Check your achievement record afterward rather than assuming the story cutscene covered it.
MCC's **No Stone Unturned** requires this special terminal as well as the seven regular terminals. Older guides saying Halo 3 has only seven relevant terminals are often describing the original Xbox 360 achievement, Marathon Man. Those are different checklists.
**Tilt: climb the left side of the room**
Return to the main floor and orient yourself from the entry side again. On the left are small growth-covered ledges beside a rounded upright structure.
1. Climb onto that short structure to gain height.
2. Jump to the nearby thin ledge on the left wall, then the higher growth above it.
3. Turn back toward the room. Locate the next raised ledge with a longer, narrow organic extension leading toward the upper surface.
4. Jump across to that ledge, then follow the extension onto the top of the room's structure.
5. Find the skull among the remains on that upper surface and pick it up.
The awkward part is the overhead collision. If your jump seems to stop early, you may be hitting the growth above your head rather than simply jumping too short. Adjust your takeoff position instead of repeating the same blocked jump.
Deployable Cover found in the room's lower area can provide an extra step near the starting structure or ledge. It is an aid, not a required skull-activation item. You don't need to carry a gravity lift from another mission.
The pickup unlock is **Skulltaker Halo 3: Tilt**. Turning Tilt on in the mission menu is not a substitute for collecting it.
**If you fall or walk past it**
A fall back into the room normally means repeating the climb, not restarting the whole mission. Deal with any enemies that remain before trying again. Don't blindly jump down from the highest point if you can step back along the route you used.
If you've already advanced out of the area, an available earlier checkpoint may help, but MCC does not give you a free library of every checkpoint to choose from. Restarting the mission is the dependable fallback. Collect on the first visit rather than depending on the escape sequence to provide a convenient second attempt.
Your two checks here are simple: **Tilt picked up; special terminal activated.** The mission's rescue objective is neither of those.
