**Halo 3 in MCC: Floodgate, from the city to the crashed ship** *Full mission spoilers. Conventional route, not a speedrun skip.* You've just fought through Voi, and now you're going back through part of it with a completely different problem. The useful change here isn't simply swapping to a bigger gun. The Flood can come over cover, get behind you and turn a body you thought was dealt with into another attacker. Keep a battle rifle for targets you cannot safely approach. Pair it with a shotgun, sword or gravity hammer when you find one. You don't need to keep the assault rifle just because you started with it. **Down the hill and into the storage passage** Head away from the destroyed anti-aircraft gun and descend toward the industrial buildings. Near the first street corner, have your battle rifle ready and look up at the building on the right. A Flood carrying the **Fog skull** jumps across the gap. Shoot it as it begins crossing, then collect what falls. That is an optional stop, but it is easy to run past permanently. The **Milk Carton** poster is another early stop: after turning left into the narrow storage passage, inspect the first recessed opening on the right, near the dead bodies. There is no terminal here. Continue toward the Marines and weapon supplies. Kill the Flood approaching their position, then top up before entering the larger warehouse. Don't chase one attacker so far forward that the rest land behind you. On Heroic and Legendary, assume that an apparently clear flank may still receive another group. **Through the warehouse** Use the entrances, crates and changes in elevation to limit how many enemies can reach you together. The objective is the route through the warehouse, not standing in its open middle until every moving shape has found you. A shotgun or melee weapon handles a combat form that has closed the distance. The battle rifle is more useful against one carrying a gun on the far side. Aim at the infection form embedded in a combat form's body when you have a clear shot; simply shooting where a human head used to be isn't the same target. After a wave, watch the corpses. Small infection forms can revive usable bodies. Remove immediate attackers before stopping to exchange weapons, and destroy a corpse that keeps becoming a problem instead of giving it another chance behind you. On Normal you have more room to experiment. On Heroic or Legendary, shorten your exposure: take a shot, return behind cover and check both sides before advancing. A powerful close-range weapon does not make crossing an open firing lane safe. **The outdoor battle and Pure Forms** Once outside, continue through the industrial route toward the crashed Flood ship. Friendly Elites arrive to help during this part of the mission. Let them engage rather than racing so far ahead that you lose their support. Pure Forms change the fight. A mobile stalker can become a ranged attacker or a heavy tank form. A ranged form firing from an elevated position deserves attention before you walk into the open. Use your precision weapon and cover; don't waste a close-range charge trying to reach an enemy across a gap. There is a machine-gun turret you can use or detach. Detaching gives you mobile firepower but slows your movement, so drop it when repositioning matters more than another burst. Work down the route toward the lakebed and beneath the pipe, using the industrial cover rather than walking straight through everything at once. The ship entrance is ahead up a slope into the organic opening. You are not looking for a vehicle switch or a terminal panel to unlock it. **Inside the ship** Follow the fleshy interior passage deeper into the wreck. This last stretch is mainly navigation and story rather than another major battle. Leave the growths alone instead of shooting everything that looks unpleasant and creating more infection forms to deal with. Continue to the blue-lit device holding Cortana's message and interact with it. That finishes the mission. It is the story objective, **not** one of Halo 3's collectible terminals, and this is a message rather than the later rescue of Cortana herself. If you're planning a return for achievements, the clean split is an opening collectible visit, a straightforward completion and then a timed/scored attempt. The route is short enough that trying to force all three together buys very little.
