**Halo 3 in MCC: The Storm achievement run**
*Mission spoilers. MCC, not the separate Xbox 360 achievement list.*
The Storm is a good example of why I wouldn't try to do every achievement in one pass. One target rewards destroying vehicles. Another requires you to leave a particular vehicle alive long enough to collect a skull. Sort that out before the first lakebed rather than wondering where the skull went afterward.
**What you're working toward**
- **Assault:** complete The Storm; Easy is eligible in MCC.
- **Lightning Strike:** finish below **15:00**.
- **Askar:** beat **15,000 points**.
- **Skulltaker Halo 3: Catch:** physically collect Catch, using Normal or harder from Mission Start.
- **Milk Carton:** inspect the missing-person poster. It is also accessible near the beginning of Floodgate, which is the easier cleanup option.
There is no terminal on this mission. Don't confuse destroying the anti-aircraft cannon with activating a collectible.
**First pass: completion and Catch**
Use the ordinary campaign route and collect Catch in the first outdoor lakebed before clearing its tanks. The short silo is your destination; bring a Warthog against its higher-ground side to help reach the roof.
Keep the standard purple mortar Wraith alive until the skull is collected. The conservative approach is to preserve both that vehicle and the anti-air Wraith during the climb. Guides disagree about whether damaging the anti-air Wraith matters in MCC, so I wouldn't make an otherwise simple pickup depend on that argument. Watch friendly gunners as well as your own explosives.
Once the pickup is confirmed, resume the mission. The later Scarab is a normal objective, not another hidden achievement puzzle. Bring it down, board it, destroy its rear core and leave before it explodes. Finish through the warehouse and the final cannon approach.
**Lightning Strike: make the route faster, not more complicated**
Easy, no skull modifiers and a visible timer make a sensible initial setup. Leave the silo climb and poster inspection for another run.
The useful time savings are around the objectives. Don't circle a lakebed after the route forward has opened. Don't spend several minutes trying to make a spectacular Scarab jump when damaging a leg and boarding normally would have finished the encounter. Have a close-range answer ready for the warehouse Hunters and Chieftain, then move toward the cannon rather than chasing distant survivors.
At the cannon, shoot its exposed vulnerable underside when it opens. Shooting the long barrel isn't the objective. Finish with a margin below fifteen minutes; aiming for exactly the threshold leaves no room for a delay or a failed boarding attempt.
**Askar: a separate scoring setup**
Turn scoring on so you can see whether your approach is actually producing enough points. Heroic is a reasonable practice setting if you can finish it without repeated deaths. Normal with selected scoring skulls is another approach, but adding every difficult modifier at once is not automatically better.
The vehicles are valuable. MCC's Halo 3 scoring can award points for destroying unoccupied Covenant vehicles, too. Once Catch is collected—or if this is a separate scoring run—you can use that rather than leaving useful points untouched. Still, don't wreck friendly occupied vehicles or spend so long collecting scraps that the time bonus collapses.
Keep moving between profitable fights. Repeated deaths, friendly kills and an overlong finish can undo a strong opening. A live score above the target isn't a reason to quit; complete the mission and check the final result.
For **Milk Carton**, the poster is on the floor in the recessed storage passage late in The Storm, approached from the opposite direction to Floodgate. If you miss it, use Floodgate's opening instead of replaying this whole mission solely for that stop.
