Halo 3 in MCC: Tough Luck on Tsavo Highway Halo 3 in The Master Chief Collection. Mission spoilers. Tsavo Highway has one campaign skull: **Tough Luck**. It's beside the highway after the first shield-blocked tunnel, down on a rock ledge beneath the large pipeline. There is **no terminal in this mission**. This is a short detour, but don't take “down below the pipe” as an instruction to jump into the ravine. The support underneath the pipe is your landing place. Find that first. **Set up the collection run** Start **Tsavo Highway from Mission Start on Normal or harder**. A later rally point isn't the right setup for spawning the collectible. Normal is sufficient; Legendary is not required. Leave optional modifiers off for a straightforward attempt. You don't need Tough Luck enabled, and having it selectable in MCC's menu doesn't count as finding the physical skull. The route uses ordinary jumps and a controlled drop. There's no need to bring a gravity lift, arrange a grenade boost or drive a vehicle off the road. **Reach the correct stretch of highway** Follow the normal opening vehicle route out of the base. Continue through the early fights until you reach the blue anti-vehicle barrier at the tunnel, with Brutes and Choppers in the surrounding encounter. Clear the opposition and disable the barrier's generator. Deal with the Drones around the tunnel encounter, then drive through to the open highway beyond. This is the stretch where a huge Covenant cruiser passes overhead. Look left as you emerge: a large pipeline follows the road beside the ravine. That pipeline is the landmark you want—not the later broken road gap or one of the subsequent vehicle battles. Park on the roadway before attempting the detour. You want a controlled approach on foot, not a dismount that sends your Warthog over the edge. **Pipeline, support, rock ledge** 1. Approach the pipeline on the left side of the road. Look for its yellow access ladder near the section extending over the ravine. 2. Climb onto the pipe. A Regenerator near the access point can help confirm the spot, but the pipeline and its support are the important landmarks. 3. Move right along the pipe and get past the raised metal obstruction. Look down on the ravine side for the broad support below. 4. Line yourself up over that support before stepping off. Use the projecting, bolted section of the pipe as your approach rather than jumping from an arbitrary point along its rounded surface. 5. Drop onto the support. Don't launch yourself outward; that risks overshooting the surface you need. 6. Follow the support toward its outer end. Look left for the separate rock shelf coming out of the cliff, with the skull on it. 7. Jump the short gap onto the rock shelf, then use your pickup control to claim the skull. The support you need is the one nearest the tunnel exit among the supports over the drop. If you are far down the highway looking beneath a different length of pipeline, return toward the tunnel and identify that first support again. The MCC achievement is **Skulltaker Halo 3: Tough Luck**. Check that the pickup registers before leaving. You don't have to carry the skull through the remaining vehicle encounters or finish the level with its modifier active. **If the jump goes wrong** Restore your shields before attempting the descent. Don't add an avoidable fall to damage you're still carrying from the tunnel fight. If you land on the support but can't see the skull, look toward the cliff-side outcrop to your left. It isn't sitting on the main road or on top of the pipe. If you fall into the ravine, an available checkpoint may let you retry, but its exact position isn't guaranteed. If the object is absent, check your difficulty and whether you started from the beginning before assuming you found the wrong rock. After claiming it, work back toward the road using the support and nearby geometry where possible. If you cannot recover your position safely, check that the pickup registered before using an available checkpoint or revisiting the mission. Don't turn this into a desperate leap at the highway from a ledge that doesn't reach it. That is the only skull stop here. Continue with the highway objectives afterward; there isn't a terminal hidden in the tunnel to add to the checklist.
