Halo 2 in MCC: planning LASO and Monopolized without mixing up the requirements **Halo 2: Anniversary in The Master Chief Collection. Achievement planning, not a tested mission-by-mission speedrun or LASO walkthrough.** These are two different jobs. One asks you to finish a particular playlist. The other asks you to put together fast Legendary mission completions. I wouldn't turn them into the same project just because both involve Legendary. **Back for More: use the actual LASO playlist** **Back for More** requires completion of Halo 2's **LASO Campaign playlist**. Select that playlist through Halo 2: Anniversary's Playlists menu and let it supply the settings. Manually selecting Legendary and switching on a collection of skulls is not a substitute for finishing the required playlist. Neither is completing some other campaign playlist that happens to include difficult Halo 2 missions. The playlist uses a defined set of modifiers. “All skulls on” does not mean enabling every optional helper and every later-added skull you can find in the menu. You also don't need to collect all the physical skulls before starting it. Start with the preset, check its displayed settings and progress, and resume that same playlist when continuing. Before ending a session, confirm which mission the playlist records as completed. Don't rely on remembering that you saw an ending scene somewhere in a different mode. **What changes your plan on LASO** Blind removes the usual visual information you depend on. Black Eye changes how you recover shields. Reduced ammunition and tougher enemies make a normal Legendary weapon plan less forgiving. Practice the dangerous rooms before treating a playlist attempt as the practice session. For Halo 2, that means knowing where the next usable weapon is, which encounter starts when you move forward, and where you can recover instead of simply memorizing the nearest exit. Iron makes deaths especially costly: solo deaths normally restart the mission; in co-op, a player's death sends the team back to a checkpoint. Halo 2's ordinary Legendary co-op already rolls the team back when either player dies, so a partner is not a free respawn machine even outside LASO. If you're working together, agree on who advances and who covers the next threat. Two people entering the same blind corner at the same time can make a difficult section less recoverable, not more. Halo 2 campaign supports **two players**, not four. Plan around that actual limit rather than the larger teams supported by some other MCC campaigns. I would also keep collectible cleanup separate. A long detour for a toy is not worth adding to a fragile LASO attempt when the toy can be obtained under easier conditions. **Monopolized: under three hours across your Legendary records** **Monopolized** asks you to complete the Halo 2 Legendary campaign in **under three hours**. This is a cumulative best-mission-time goal, not a demand to finish the whole campaign in one uninterrupted sitting. You can improve a weak mission without replaying every successful mission afterward. Keep a record of each completed Legendary time, then add those times together. Use the game's recorded result, not a stopwatch estimate or the time you remember seeing before the ending registered. Individual par-time achievements are not the same target. Halo 2's listed mission pars add up to roughly three and a half hours. Beating those pars alone does not guarantee Monopolized; your combined Legendary total still has to fall below three hours. And a great Easy time does not belong in this calculation. Keep the difficulty column in your checklist so a faster result from another cleanup run doesn't accidentally replace the relevant Legendary record. **Solo, co-op and the tracking caveat** Community achievement references report that qualifying solo and co-op best times can contribute across missions. That is not the same as a current official guarantee that every mixed-mode record will always be combined correctly. There are also reports of co-op completion or mixed-record unlock problems. Keep both sets of times visible in your own notes. If you want the cleanest record to troubleshoot, doing your timed improvements consistently in one mode avoids one source of uncertainty. That is a planning preference, **not a new requirement to finish the campaign under three hours twice**. Likewise, do not assume a partner's completion is recorded for your profile until you've checked your own result. Each player should inspect their progress. **A useful timing checklist** For each mission, record: - Your completed Legendary time. - Whether it was solo or co-op. - Which skulls were enabled. - Whether the time appeared in your own recorded results. - The section where you lost the most time. Then improve the largest realistic saving, not necessarily the mission you dislike most. If one avoidable navigation mistake cost several minutes, correcting that may be more useful than repeatedly chasing a tiny saving on a mission you already run comfortably. Give yourself a margin below three hours. A total that is only just below the limit is harder to diagnose if you have overlooked a record or rounded several times down. Work in minutes and seconds, not rounded minute estimates. Don't silently discard the opening entries when checking campaign completion. Verify the game recognizes the relevant Legendary campaign progress, including the opening sequence/tutorial entries where applicable, rather than building a spreadsheet that ignores a missing completion flag. **Keep the settings and sessions straightforward** For Monopolized, leave zero-multiplier assistance off and pay attention to any in-game warning that a selected skull disables achievements. A helper that works for a toy pickup is not automatically valid for a recorded speed attempt. Halo Support recommends completing speedrunning and scoring attempts within a single session because quitting and resuming one mission can cause unlock problems. That means finishing each timed mission in one session; it does **not** turn Monopolized into a single-sitting campaign requirement. Old guides sometimes recommend saving and quitting immediately after a death to manipulate a run. I'm not building this plan around that behavior or promising it still records correctly. A clean completion is a much better starting point when you need to know whether your time counted. **If the achievement doesn't appear** Check the actual requirement first: the correct LASO playlist for Back for More, or recorded Legendary completions totaling below three hours for Monopolized. Check the profile, mode, difficulty and modifier warnings before repeating hours of work. On PC, use the normal achievement-enabled game launch rather than an anti-cheat-disabled mod session. Halo Support also documents delayed campaign and playlist unlocks and recommends submitting a support ticket if a qualifying achievement still hasn't arrived after its stated waiting period. Keep screenshots of the relevant progress and results. Those are more useful than trying to reconstruct the settings from memory after several retries. The sensible order is ordinary Legendary familiarity, focused timed improvements for Monopolized, and a separately tracked LASO playlist. There is no reason to make the hardest run carry every other unfinished job too.
