Halo 2: The Great Journey — the last terminal and Black Eye skull
**Halo 2: Anniversary in The Master Chief Collection. Final-mission spoilers.**
Don't save both of these for the Control Room. The terminal is earlier, in the prison where you free your allies. Black Eye comes later, outside the Control Room, while you have a Banshee. They are two separate stops, and following the main objective straight into the last fight will take you past the skull detour.
**Before you start**
**Black Eye requires Legendary** for the MCC achievement **Skulltaker Halo 2: Black Eye**. Terminal 13, **Obsessed**, can be activated on any difficulty. Switch to Anniversary graphics to find and use the terminal.
Choose Legendary if you want both on the same run. If only Obsessed is missing, there's no need to put yourself through the harder fighting just to reach that panel.
This is the Halo 2 Black Eye skull, not the one in Halo: CE's Library or Halo 3's Crow's Nest. Likewise, the Didact toy and the REX marking are separate finds. This route covers the terminal and skull, not every Easter egg in the mission.
**First stop: the upper prison cell**
Play through the opening vehicle section and the interior encounters until you reach the prison containing captive Elites and Hunters. This is before the Johnson-and-Scarab escort, not inside the final boss chamber.
Clear the immediate enemies so you can search the cells without being shot while facing a wall. When entering the prison, look toward the cells on your **right** and go to the **upper level**. You want the **middle cell of that right-hand row**, also described as the second cell on the upper right.
Its entrance is blocked by an energy barrier. Shoot the barrier down, enter the cell and look against the back wall for the terminal. Use the interaction prompt in Anniversary graphics.
Do not assume freeing the prisoners automatically collects it. The panel is a separate interaction, and you need to walk into its cell rather than simply pass along the upper walkway.
The expected individual achievement is **Obsessed**. **Walking Encyclopedia** is the separate award for all Halo 2 terminals; it only follows here if the other twelve are already registered. Finding the final terminal in campaign order doesn't by itself prove you've collected all the earlier ones.
Once that stop is done, continue the mission normally. You still need to reach the later flight section for the skull.
**Second stop: outside the Control Room**
After the prison sequence, progress until Johnson is piloting the Scarab and you are flying a Banshee. Follow the escort route to the large Control Room structure. Its main entrance is the door Johnson opens with the Scarab's gun.
**Stay outside for Black Eye.** The skull is above the building, not beyond the opened door and not in Tartarus's arena.
Before landing, deal with anything actively threatening your flight path. A damaged Banshee and an enemy firing at your back make a narrow landing harder than it needs to be. Look over the structure first so you can identify the entrance, its sloping beam and the rounded roof behind it.
**From the entrance beam to the skull**
Use the entrance Johnson opens as your starting landmark, viewed from outside:
1. Fly onto the **angled beam directly above that entrance**. Set down carefully and get onto the beam on foot.
2. Climb toward its upper end. Look down to the left for the adjoining **curved, sloping wall** of the structure.
3. Jump onto that curved surface and walk up onto the roof. Follow its right-hand edge toward the grassy hillside behind the building, stepping over the small beam across your path.
4. Walk uphill across the grass to the point where it meets another steep structural support.
5. Step or jump onto that support and climb it. The skull is at its **first flat landing**, on a bright white panel.
The important distinction is between the first beam over the door and the final support you climb from the grass. They are not the same piece of the building. Landing above the entrance gets you onto the route; it doesn't put you directly beside the skull.
Walk deliberately on the slopes. Don't turn a recoverable missed step into a long fall by continuing to push forward blindly. A grenade jump is not part of this route, and you do not need to find a special colored Banshee.
When you reach the landing, use your pickup control on Black Eye and check for collection confirmation. Merely reaching the roof or finding the white panel is not enough.
**Finish collecting before entering the fight**
If you intend to finish the mission too, keep track of where you left your Banshee and retrace the roof route carefully rather than dropping straight toward the entrance. Don't assume every lower-looking surface is a safe landing.
If you miss the terminal and only realize after reaching the Banshee section, check whether your current route still allows a return rather than assuming you can select an earlier checkpoint from a list. Otherwise, replay the mission for the missing item. The same applies if you've already entered the final encounter without Black Eye.
The short version: **upper-right prison cell first, exterior Control Room roof later**. Get those two stops right and you can leave the rest of your attention for the final fight.
