Halo 2 in MCC: Regret achievements, the hidden toy and Prophet Birthday Party
Regret mission, boss and hidden-item spoilers. Halo 2: Anniversary in The Master Chief Collection.
Regret has two early secrets in the same out-of-the-way building, but they need opposite graphics settings. The ceiling message is easiest to inspect in classic mode. The toy outside needs Anniversary mode. If you've reached the right structure and still can't see what you're looking for, check that before repeating the jump.
The other thing to set before you start is **Prophet Birthday Party**, if you want the mission's skull-enabled completion achievement. Finding the physical Assassins skull later isn't a substitute.
**The eight mission-focused targets**
- **Regret:** complete the mission, on any difficulty in MCC.
- **I Regret Nothing:** finish below the **15-minute** par time.
- **Fists of Fury:** finish above the **8,000-point** par score.
- **Enamored:** activate terminal 7 in the underwater complex.
- **Skulltaker Halo 2: Assassins:** collect Assassins on Legendary.
- **Regrettable Turn of Events:** collect the Prophet of Regret toy.
- **HI BEN:** view the hidden ceiling message.
- **Needs More Whammy Bar:** complete Regret with **Prophet Birthday Party enabled**.
Fists of Fury is a score target, not a melee-only run. You can shoot enemies throughout the mission. Don't let an achievement name invent a restriction that its description doesn't contain.
**Get HI BEN and the toy before the first gondola**
For a dedicated collection visit, Easy is fine. Bring a beam rifle for the message and keep grenades for the jumps. **Sputnik is a useful setup for the conventional grenade-jump route**, not a hidden condition for either achievement to exist.
Clear the opening fighting, go outdoors and look right. A broken bridge separates you from a small detached structure. That's your destination, before taking the first gondola across the lake.
Use a grenade-assisted jump to cross the gap. Start with recovered shields and line up the landing before committing. A jump with Sputnik behaves differently from an ordinary boost, so don't keep changing skull settings and expecting identical distance. If you miss, use whatever suitable checkpoint is actually available rather than assuming the game saved immediately before the edge.
An updated HI BEN guide also documents **Acrophobia** as an easier way across. That is an optional approach to this egg; it doesn't make the same settings valid for the par-time record.
**HI BEN: inside, above you**
Once across, go into the dark room on the right. Switch to **classic graphics**, use your flashlight, and look up toward the left ceiling corner. Use the beam rifle's scope and its higher magnification to inspect the lettering.
You're looking for **HI BEN**, not a terminal panel. There's nothing to pick up or activate with the terminal button. Face the message and view it clearly.
Using a beam rifle is the straightforward documented setup. Keep it until you've checked the message instead of dropping it just before the room and trying to make an unscoped weapon do the same job.
**Regrettable Turn of Events: outside, above the room**
The toy is on the upper exterior ledge of that same structure. Leave the message room, use another grenade-assisted jump to reach the upper ledge, and follow it around to the right toward the back.
Switch to **Anniversary graphics** and walk over the Prophet of Regret toy to collect it. This earns Regrettable Turn of Events and contributes one item toward **Toybox**, the separate all-eight-toys achievement.
You don't need to fight the actual Prophet before the toy appears. Nor is this the Assassins skull building at the far end of the first gondola ride. These two early secrets are on the near side of that journey.
**Needs More Whammy Bar: select the correct modifier**
Before launching Regret, enable **Prophet Birthday Party**. Not Grunt Birthday Party, and not Assassins. Complete the whole level with it enabled; any difficulty works.
The modifier adds guitar sounds to the punches during the Prophet encounter. It does not require you to collect a hidden Prophet Birthday skull in this mission. MCC's menu already provides the modifier.
For a simple attempt, use Easy with just that modifier. Other helper combinations are reported to work, but there's no reason to add several variables if you're troubleshooting a missing unlock.
Prophet Birthday Party has a **1.00× multiplier** and is documented as compatible with score and time attempts. Don't confuse it with zero-multiplier assistance such as Scarab or Acrophobia. You can leave this particular modifier on while pursuing a record, provided the rest of your settings remain eligible.
Finish the actual mission. Hearing the guitar once doesn't satisfy the completion condition by itself. There is no required number of guitar sounds or special final punch to add to the instructions. Reports about enabling the time HUD are troubleshooting suggestions, not an established extra requirement; successful runs are also reported without it.
**Assassins and Enamored come later**
For **Skulltaker Halo 2: Assassins**, use Legendary. The physical skull can appear on lower difficulties, but the MCC achievement route calls for Legendary. After the first gondola crossing, climb the destination building from its interior block and light to the turret balcony, then onto the roof. Follow the right-hand perimeter toward the grassy ledge with two cloaked Elites and claim the skull.
**Enamored** comes afterward in the underwater section. Find the chamber with the large Regret hologram and inspect the terminal on the elevated walkway behind it in Anniversary graphics. Any difficulty works for the terminal.
The companion collectible guide covers both routes. Neither is in the final boss room, and neither requires the Prophet Birthday Party modifier.
**Time, score and the boss**
**I Regret Nothing** allows any difficulty, including Easy. The target is fifteen minutes, so leave the early secrets and roof climb for another run. Know the gondola and underwater routes before attempting to rush them. Arriving at the boss chamber is not finishing the level; leave time to defeat Regret and complete the ending sequence.
For **Fists of Fury**, turn scoring on and aim above **8,000** at the final result. A clean run with controlled fights is more useful than chasing a high difficulty multiplier while dying repeatedly. Avoid friendly-fire losses, and don't assume a route that skips most fighting will also supply your score.
During the boss fight, use the boarding opportunity on Regret's chair and strike him while mounted. When he relocates, recover and find the next approach instead of ignoring nearby Honor Guards. There's no achievement here for defeating him without damage, never leaving his chair or killing every guard first. Those are not conditions you need to impose on yourself.
Complete each time or score attempt in one session and check the final record. Keep zero-multiplier helpers off for those attempts. Once the eight entries are accounted for, there isn't another hidden boss-specific achievement waiting for a particular weapon or a perfect punch sequence.
