This guide covers Combat Evolved Anniversary in The Master Chief Collection, not Campaign Evolved.** The Library repeats enough of its layout that “look in the circular room” isn't much help by itself. There are three separate stops: **Black Eye near the beginning on the first floor, Terminal 7 on the third floor, and Eye Patch at the very end on the fourth floor.** All three can be collected on **Easy**. Switch to Anniversary graphics when searching. Walk over each skull to claim it; interact with the terminal. Neither skull needs to be activated in the mission settings. For a collection run, I'd keep this separate from a serious no-death or time attempt. There's no reason to make a difficult run depend on a grenade jump you haven't practiced. **Black Eye: the vent before your first look into the Index chamber** Stay on the starting floor. Before you enter the large circular Index chamber for the first time, look at the raised structures and square vent openings near its entrance. The vent you want is the one closest to that doorway. To make the direction unambiguous, **stand with your back to the doorway leading into the Index chamber: the target vent is on your right.** Don't go looking upstairs for this one. The ordinary route uses a nearby raised block as a stepping stone: 1. Deal with the Flood immediately around you before setting up the jump. 2. Find the raised block beside the target vent. Your first landing is on that block, not all the way up inside the shaft. 3. Let your shields recharge and avoid attempting the boost with badly depleted health. 4. Use a grenade-assisted jump to reach the block: place the grenade at the launch point and jump toward the block just before the explosion. The blast supplies the extra height. 5. From the block, jump into the vent opening. 6. Turn on your flashlight and continue up the dark passage to the skull. Walk across it rather than stopping at the mouth of the vent. That gives you **Skulltaker Halo: CE: Black Eye**. If the boost fails, get back out of danger and let your shields recover before trying again. Throwing another grenade immediately while you're already hurt is a good way to turn a small detour into a restart. **There is also a current-MCC alternative:** Acrophobia lets you fly. With that modifier enabled, double-press jump and hold the second press to ascend; crouch lets you hover. You can use flight to reach the vent instead of practicing the grenade boost. Keep this as a dedicated collectible route, not a promise that the same settings qualify for every score or time achievement. **Terminal 7: third floor, across the central opening** Continue through the mission until the third floor. The chapter **“But I Don't Want to Ride the Elevator!”** is the useful reminder that you're entering this part of the level. When you reach the large circular Index chamber on this floor, stop before simply following the normal route onward. The terminal is across the central opening, on the far side of the surrounding walkway. In Anniversary graphics, its yellow light helps identify it. **Go right around the outside instead of trying to jump across the middle.** Follow the perimeter and jump over the low raised supports in your way. Crouch during the jump if you need to clear a support's edge. Keep solid walkway beneath you; the central drop is not a shortcut. Work around to the terminal and activate it. The achievement is **Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?** This isn't a terminal tucked beside the floor-changing elevator. It's in the circular chamber with the Index platform above. If you have already reached the fourth floor, you've gone past its intended stop. Check your checkpoint before pressing farther into the mission; don't assume every lift is a convenient return route. **Eye Patch: go around the ending, not into it** On the fourth floor, after the final stretch of fighting, you'll reach the area where you can approach the Index and finish the mission. **Do not head straight onto the central platform.** Take the right-hand outer path around the room instead, keeping your distance from the Index. Follow that route to its end and check the floor between the raised pillars behind the Index area. Walk over the skull in Anniversary graphics to claim **Skulltaker Halo: CE: Eye Patch**. Only then approach the Index to finish. The important part is collecting the skull before triggering the ending, not trying to squeeze it in during the cutscene. If you trigger the ending first, use an earlier checkpoint if one is still available; otherwise return on another mission run. Before moving on, your checklist should have **Black Eye, Terminal 7, and Eye Patch** marked off—not just the achievement for completing The Library.
