Halo CE in MCC: The Silent Cartographer's skulls and terminal **Edition: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary inside The Master Chief Collection. Mission 4: The Silent Cartographer. Location spoilers below.** There are two skulls and one terminal here. Famine is a short detour along the beach. The terminal sits beside a fight you already have to pass. Bandanna is the awkward one: you can be standing directly underneath it and still need to figure out how to get onto the roof. Start the mission on Easy if you only want these collectibles. All three can be obtained on that difficulty. Use remastered graphics for the skull pickups and keep them on while looking for the terminal's display. Finding a skull and switching its modifier on are different things; you do not need either collectible's effect active to pick it up. **Famine: the hill along the beach** At the landing area, turn back along the beach in the opposite direction from the main opening fight. You are looking for the substantial rocky rise standing along the beach, with grass and bushes on top. This is the hill beside the Pelican crash site that appears later in the mission. You do **not** need to wait for that crash. It is a useful landmark on a later visit, not a requirement for the skull to appear. Go around the hill until you find its sloping path. Follow that path up, then follow the grassy top toward its pointed end. Look between the small bushes at the corner. Walk over the skull in remastered mode. The achievement is **Skulltaker Halo: CE: Famine**. There is no grenade jump here. If you are trying to scale a sheer rock face, keep going around to the walkable side rather than repeatedly jumping at it. **Terminal 4: outside, beside the first Hunters** Continue the mission until the locked Cartographer entrance sends you toward the security override. On the inland route, you reach an outdoor clearing with two Hunters and a large metal structure in its center. After dealing with the Hunters, walk around that central structure at ground level. Check the curved base beneath the projecting horizontal section. The terminal is mounted against that structure, on its back side, rather than inside the security facility farther along the path. Approach the display and use the interaction prompt. Walking past it is not enough. The achievement is **Idle Hands**. Keep this room distinction in mind: **the outdoor Hunter clearing has the terminal; the security-console chamber farther inside has Bandanna.** They are not the same pickup location. **Bandanna: above the passage into the security room** Continue into the security facility, through the interior Hunter encounter, and follow the passage to the security-control room. This is where you disable the lock on the Cartographer entrance, not the room where you eventually read the island's map. The skull is on top of the enclosed passage leading into this chamber. Look up toward that passage's roof from the open side of the room. You need to reach that upper surface, then move along it toward the wall at its end. **The grenade-jump route** Save a plasma grenade, and pick up an available overshield after clearing the fights if you can. Extra shielding gives you more room for error, but it does not make the fall into the shaft survivable. Do not practice while Hunters are still shooting at you. 1. From the security console, use the open doorway on its left to step onto the small side platform beside the shaft. 2. Turn to face the roof of the enclosed passage you came through. That roof is your landing surface; the empty shaft is not. 3. Put a plasma grenade on the platform close to your launch position. Avoid throwing it off the edge. 4. Jump toward the roof just before the explosion. The blast needs to catch you while rising, rather than while you are still standing on the grenade. 5. Crouch in the air as you reach the lip to help clear it. Once on top, move carefully along the roof to the skull and walk over it in remastered mode. This takes timing. A failed attempt does not mean the skull has disappeared. If you die or use up your grenades, reverting to a suitable checkpoint lets you try again without restarting the whole campaign. Check what that checkpoint actually restores before relying on it for another attempt. **Current MCC also has a flight option** Older guides predate this: Acrophobia was added to CE in MCC in July 2023. On a separate collection attempt, enabling that modifier lets you fly up to the same roof instead of using an explosion. Its documented control is to press jump twice, holding the second press; crouch lets you hover. Follow the normal mission route to this room before using flight. Do not turn this into a shortcut through unloaded sections of the level. Treat it as a collection run, not a par-time or par-score attempt, and check the collectible achievement afterward. Flight access is supported by the current modifier; it is not a promise that every unrelated achievement remains eligible. The skull is named **Bandanna**, but its MCC achievement is spelled **Skulltaker Halo: CE: Bandana**. That spelling difference is normal. Before leaving the island, your checklist is Famine, Idle Hands, and Bandana. None of these locations should send you looking for Campaign Evolved's different set of pickups.
