SCP-162: Ball of Sharp
SCP-162 looks like the sort of thing nobody should need to be warned about touching. It's a huge tangle of hooks, fishing line, needles, scissors, and other sharp objects. The danger is right there in front of you.
Then you start wanting to touch it anyway.
People exposed to it develop a pull toward the object, and that feeling can remain for weeks. Spending more time looking at it makes the compulsion worse. Someone trying to keep a person away can become the person they lash out at.
Once the hooks catch, struggling makes the situation worse. Attempts to pull someone free can seriously injure them or trap the rescuer too. Some victims alternate between begging for help and insisting they want to stay. There is a way to free someone using another anomaly, SCP-1114, but even that doesn't remove the desire to return.
That last detail changes the whole situation. Getting a person away from the object doesn't mean the experience is finished. You can deal with the immediate injury and still have someone who wants to go straight back to what hurt them.
The horror depends on breaking a very basic assumption: if something obviously hurts us, we'll want to avoid it. Here, recognizing the danger doesn't give a person control over their response. They can be suffering and defending the thing causing that suffering at the same time.
There's also a practical problem for anyone nearby. A rescue attempt starts with a perfectly reasonable impulse to help, but the object makes that impulse dangerous too. You have to think about protection, distance, and whether the person you're helping might pull you in with them.
For a story, that creates conflict without giving the object a voice or a personality. It can sit there while the people around it argue, fight, and misunderstand each other. The object barely has to do anything visibly dramatic. The damage spreads through what people feel compelled to do around it.
Something that looks this dangerous shouldn't need to trick anyone. That it can still make people reach for it is the whole problem.
