Shadowrun: Dragonfall — Director’s Cut: cyberware and bioware For Director’s Cut on PlayStation and PC. Numbers below are the Dragonfall cyberware table: https://t.co/CMHX1KLNY2; the earlier Returns DLC version of Dragonfall is a different release. Cyberware is strongest when it fixes a real problem in your build: a Datajack opens decking or drone control, an accuracy implant helps a dedicated shooter, and a body implant keeps a frontliner alive. It is easy to buy a pile of cool chrome and end up with less Essence, less magic and no coherent advantage. Visit Xabier Ezkibel in Berlin to install it. Essence is the price behind the nuyen price Every runner starts with 6 Essence. Installing an implant lowers it permanently. Magic calculations round Essence down, so even a half point can cost a spellcaster a full effective point. Replacing basic chrome with an alpha version that has a lower Essence cost does not restore Essence; the difference becomes a buffer that can cover later installs. Plan your high-impact slots before buying cheap early implants. This is especially important for a Mage or Shaman. Cyberware and developer example: https://t.co/CMHX1KLNY2. There is no Hong Kong-style Cyberware Affinity tree here. Do not build around an extra Essence point or HK cyberweapons while playing Dragonfall. Smartlink weapons require a Datajack and the appropriate gun skill; the implant is part of that decision. The genuinely useful installs Head and eyes - Datajack: ¥500, 0.5 Essence. Required for Deckers, Riggers and smartlink guns. A Decker or Rigger gets one for access; a shooter should first decide whether the smartlink accuracy justifies the permanent Essence cost. - Induction Datajack: arm slot, ¥1,000 and 0.3 Essence. The slot and smaller Essence draw can be worth the extra money if head space or magic preservation matters. It still serves the Datajack role. - Encephalon: +1 Intelligence for ¥2,000 and 1 Essence. Encephalon NEXT gives +2 Intelligence for ¥5,000 and 1.5 Essence in Director’s Cut. A specialized Decker may value the stat, but compare the actual skill threshold you need against cheaper Karma or gear first. The older Encephalon Enhanced Datajack is marked as replaced in Director’s Cut; do not chase it in the PlayStation release. - Cerebral Booster: +1 Intelligence for ¥2,500 and 0.5 Essence. Better Essence efficiency than basic Encephalon if all you need is one Intelligence point. - Pain Editor: +1 Willpower and −1 Intelligence for ¥1,000 with no Essence cost. Interesting for a Willpower build that can afford the Intelligence loss; a Decker should stay away. - Vision Magnification Alpha: +6% hit chance, ¥1,000, 0.5 Essence. The basic model gives +3% for ¥750 and 1 Essence. For a shooter, waiting for alpha is an easy call if cash allows. This applies to accuracy, not raw damage. - Laser Designator: a zero-AP target mark that gives +10% team hit chance for a round, with a two-turn cooldown; ¥1,500 and 0.5 Essence. A support shooter can help everyone land shots. BrightLight System uses two AP to blind a target and costs the same Essence and nuyen, but asks a larger action commitment. The eye abilities use ranged accuracy; they are less appealing on a runner who cannot hit. Head and eye data: https://t.co/CMHX1KLNY2. Body and skin - Ares Dermal Plating Basic: +1 Armor for ¥1,750 and 1 Essence. Alpha: +2 Armor and +1 Body for ¥3,500 and the same 1 Essence. The alpha is a substantial upgrade if you know you want that slot. Installing basic first and replacing it does not refund the old Essence. - Shiawase Bone Lacing Plastic: +1 Body for ¥1,500 but costs 2 Essence. Kevlar: +1 Body and +1 Strength for ¥4,000 and 1.5 Essence. That is a steep cost unless the Strength matters to a melee or minigun build. - Wired Reflexes with Reflex Trigger: +1 movement, plus an activated first-attack dodge each turn for three turns; ¥5,000 and 2 Essence. It costs one AP to trigger. That can save a frontliner but demands both cash and a large Essence budget. - Synthacardium Mk 1: +1 Dodge and +1 Throwing Weapons for ¥2,000 and 0.5 Essence. Mk 2: adds +1 movement for ¥3,250 at the same Essence cost. It is a compact choice for a mobile grenadier or ranged fighter. - Platelet Factory: once activated, heals the damage from the most recent hit, one AP with a two-turn cooldown; ¥1,500 and 0.5 Essence. Use it promptly after a big hit. It is not a passive refill of every old wound. - Orthoskin: +1 Armor for ¥2,500 and roughly 0.3 Essence per the table. A modest, low-Essence armor addition. - Tailored Pheromones: +1 Charisma for ¥2,000 and 0.5 Essence. Buy it for a specific dialogue or Etiquette threshold, not just because a free-looking social point exists. - Suprathyroid: +1 to physical attributes for ¥7,500 and 0.5 Essence. Expensive, but efficient for a late hybrid that benefits from Body, Strength and Quickness. Check stat ceilings before paying. The Adrenal Contractor entry gives +1 AP while increasing incoming damage, but the table lists no normal clinic price. Treat it as special availability, not a guaranteed shop purchase. Body and bioware data: https://t.co/CMHX1KLNY2. Arms and legs - Yamatetsu Cyberarm Alpha: +1 Strength and +5 HP for ¥2,500 and 1 Essence. It is a sensible Strength build purchase; a gunner who needs Quickness will get more from a different slot. - Muscle Augmentation: +1 Quickness and +1 Strength for ¥2,750 and 1 Essence. Useful when both stats matter; less attractive for a pure rifle build that never uses Strength. - Auto-Injector Bliss: zero-AP activation, incoming damage −3 and Strength −1 for four turns, ¥2,000, 0.5 Essence. Frontline survivability with a melee tradeoff. - Auto-Injector Hyper: zero-AP activation, +6% accuracy but incoming damage +3 for three turns, same price and Essence. Use it from cover on a shooter, not while absorbing fire. - Universal Omnitech Cyberleg Alpha: +8 HP, +1 Dodge and +1 Quickness for ¥3,000 and 2 Essence. Strong bonuses, heavy Essence bill. The basic Aztechnology leg gives +8 HP and +1 Quickness for ¥2,000 at the same 2 Essence. - Hydraulic Jack Mk 1 / Mk 2: zero-AP activated movement boosts of +3/+4, lasting two rounds; ¥3,000/¥4,000 and 1/1.3 Essence. Useful on a melee build that must cross a room. Two jacks do not stack, and a jack’s movement boost does not stack with Wired Reflexes’ movement boost. - Enhanced Articulation: +1 Dodge and +1 Quickness for ¥3,250 and 0.5 Essence. A clean late buy for a ranged runner who can afford the slot. Arm and leg data: https://t.co/CMHX1KLNY2. Good cyberware plans by build These are complete one-per-slot plans, with empty slots stated rather than silently double-booked. Prices are clinic totals from the Director's Cut table: https://t.co/CMHX1KLNY2; purchase only after the listed pieces are available. An installed attribute bonus helps checks, but plan skill training from the unmodified rating shown in the Karma screen. - Rifle Samurai: Head Datajack (¥500, 0.5 Essence); eyes Vision Magnification Alpha (¥1,000, 0.5); body Dermal Plating Alpha (¥3,500, 1); arms Muscle Augmentation (¥2,750, 1); legs Enhanced Articulation (¥3,250, 0.5). Total ¥11,000 and 3.5 Essence, leaving 2.5 from the starting 6. The arm's Strength bonus is useful only if you throw or meet a heavy-weapon requirement; omit it and save ¥2,750/1 Essence on a pure rifle build. - Melee frontliner: head empty; eyes Alpha magnification (¥1,000, 0.5); body Dermal Plating Alpha (¥3,500, 1); arms Yamatetsu Cyberarm Alpha (¥2,500, 1); legs Hydraulic Jack Mk 1 (¥3,000, 1). Total ¥10,000 and 3.5 Essence, leaving 2.5. If you choose Wired Reflexes in the body slot instead, remove Dermal Plating; Wired and the jack's movement bonuses will not stack. - Decker with light survival chrome: head Datajack (¥500, 0.5); eyes empty; body Platelet Factory (¥1,500, 0.5); arms empty; legs Enhanced Articulation (¥3,250, 0.5). Total ¥5,250 and 1.5 Essence, leaving 4.5. The leg helps only if this Decker also shoots or dodges physical attacks. Buy the deck first if money is tight. Body choices such as Dermal Plating, Platelet Factory, Wired Reflexes and Synthacardium are alternatives in Dragonfall's body slot. Do not add their prices together as though they can all be installed. The arm-mounted Induction Datajack can replace the head Datajack; installing both buys no second Matrix connection. Rifle or pistol Street Samurai: save for alpha eyes and Enhanced Articulation, then consider Dermal Plating Alpha if enemies are regularly breaking through cover. Add a Datajack only if you intend to use smartlink weapons. This keeps the Essence spend tied to accuracy and survival. Shotgun or melee frontliner: Body and armor matter before a luxury damage implant. Choose Dermal Plating Alpha for passive armor and Body, Platelet Factory to heal the latest wound, or Wired Reflexes for movement and activated defense: these compete for the body slot. A Hydraulic Jack gives a planned burst of movement from a leg slot. Its movement bonus and Wired Reflexes movement do not stack. Decker or Rigger: Datajack is access gear. Intelligence booster chrome can help a current attribute check, but do not buy it assuming its modified rating raises the base Intelligence ceiling for purchasing Decking or Drone Control. Buy the underlying skill ranks with Karma. Mage, Shaman or Adept: Essence loss can damage the core reason you chose magic. Pain Editor’s zero Essence is tempting for Willpower, but its Intelligence penalty has consequences; Tailored Pheromones or a Datajack are decisions to make against your spellcasting and summoning needs. Do not copy Hong Kong’s Cyberware Affinity advice into Berlin. The most common bad purchase: basic cyberware you know you will replace soon. Alpha upgrades may be cheaper in Essence on paper, but already-spent Essence is not returned. Build your shopping list around final slots, save nuyen, and buy when the improvement changes an encounter or opens a route.
