Wonderland: Asylum Spoilers for Wonderland: Asylum below. I was surprised by Wonderland: Asylum. I thought I had read all the Wonderland material, and then I started going back through some of the stuff I was missing and found this one. This was my first time reading this part, and there was a lot in here that I didn't know before. I talked before about the archetypes in Wonderland. You've got the queens, the Queen of Hearts, Queen of Spades, Queen of Diamonds. You've got Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Cheshire, the Mad Hatter. This goes into a lot more detail about that, and about the Void and how Wonderland actually works. A lot of the rules were described here. How the rules work, how the magic works, how everything kind of functions. I'd already done a post talking about some of this before I read this part, so finding all of that here was really cool. Really cool, actually. There was a lot more to it than what I had seen in the material I'd already read. The other thing that really stood out to me was the Cheshire. In the later stuff I'd read, it felt like suddenly he was a better creature. He was different. Something had changed, but I hadn't seen all of how that happened. Then I read this and got to see more of that change of heart starting to happen. That gave me some insight I didn't have before. I missed that part, and now seeing it makes a huge difference in how I understand what I read afterward. That's one of the things I've really enjoyed about going back through these. I thought I had most of the picture, especially with Wonderland, and then I find a whole piece of it that I'd missed. This one explained a lot, both with the characters and with the way Wonderland itself works. The whole thing was really well written. I loved this one as well. Between the Void, the archetypes, the rules, and finally getting more of what happened with the Cheshire, there was a lot here that I was glad I went back and read.
