Grimm Fairy Tales: The Little Mermaid Spoilers for The Little Mermaid below. I finished Grimm Fairy Tales: The Little Mermaid, and this was another really good read. I'd read some of her story before in other material, but this was my first time going back and getting more of the big picture. She hadn't been one of the main characters I was following through all of this, so there was quite a bit about her that I hadn't put together yet. And I felt horrible about how those scientists were treating her. The whole thing with Erica being taken and what they were doing to her was awful. There's a lot going on with her family, too. You've got the history with the kings of Atlantis, her father, her human mother, the Sea Witch, and what happened to Erica when she was a child. It took me a little bit to wrap my head around how all of it fit together because there's so much going on. But once I got through it, it tied up a lot of loose ends and explained things I hadn't understood from the other stories where I'd seen her. That's what I wanted out of going back and reading this. I had seen parts of her story, but I hadn't really gotten the whole picture of how she ended up there or everything going on around her. Something else I noticed was that they call it The Little Mermaid, but she's a siren. That was another part of this that stood out to me as I was reading it. Really interesting story. Complicated in places, and I had to take a little bit to put all of that family history together, but I really loved it. This was another one of the collections I read tonight that explained a lot of what I'd missed. I'm glad I went back for this one.
