Helsing: The Darkness and the Light Spoilers for this book and later Van Helsing stories below. I just finished Helsing: The Darkness and the Light, and it was really, really good. It drew me in deeper than most of the other Helsing stories I've read. It explored her far deeper as a character than what I was familiar with, and I loved getting that part of her story. I'm kind of going back and catching up on some stuff that I must have missed. I've already read past the part where Hades died and a bunch of other stuff happened, so I'm coming back to this knowing quite a bit of what happens later. But this was before her and Hades got really close, and seeing her navigating all of this with him was a really good read. The whole trip, her trying to find out what happened to her father, everything that happens along the way. I loved that one. There's a lot of her story that I was already familiar with, but this gave me more of her as a character than I had gotten from some of the other material I'd read. That's been a big part of what I'm doing with these comics right now. I've read a lot of them, but I'm finding these pieces that I missed, and then going back through them explains things that I didn't have the full picture of before. With this one, getting to see more of her and Hades before everything else happened was a big part of what I enjoyed. These last few collections I read were some of my favorite comics, honestly. I had a really good night of reading, and this was one of the ones that drew me in the most. If you've been reading the later Van Helsing stuff and missed this one like I did, it's worth going back to.
