I couldn't fully finish this Fortune Hunter guide. There was some stuff I couldn't find and some stuff I couldn't confirm, and I didn't want to spend a whole lot of time chasing the parts I couldn't get a solid answer on. Those parts you may have to research separately. I'm posting what I could put together, but I don't want somebody getting halfway through a board before finding out the directions aren't complete.
This wraps up what I'm doing with this one. I've put the guides together below so you don't have to go digging through all the posts to find the part you need. There's also a treasure checklist and a couple of specific problems with the old guides that are worth knowing about before you follow them.
The guides I've posted
- Puzzle mechanics, switches, keys and the six maps (https://t.co/x0QNKhp86l).
- Macalpin's Viking Sword (https://t.co/jXdvn6ZaP4): routes for 1, 4, 13, 15, 16, 21, 22, 25, original 34 and original 36.
- Grace O'Malley's Celtic Brooch (https://t.co/TqfN9qQtOH): routes for 1, 8, 12 and 19.
- Pizarro's Skull Cup (https://t.co/VkXreMFADU): routes for 1, 2, 3, 11, 13, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22, 27, 29, 31, 34 and 40.
- King Toera's Golden Tortoise, puzzle 36 (https://t.co/WPk4kvlAWG): the nine-move version's barrel sequence, with the part I couldn't fully resolve marked in the guide.
Those are the boards covered by the written routes. The rest aren't hiding farther down in those posts. I haven't written a complete route for every board, and I haven't tested these directions in a running copy of the game. They're based on the older pictured boards, so compare the layout before following them.
Which levels have the extra treasures?
This is useful if you've already beaten a map and you're trying to work out where you still need to look. These are the levels listed in the old treasure records, not directions to every treasure square. The Captain Kidd, Grace and Pizarro lists agree between the two references below.
- Captain Kidd: 5, 7, 13, 16, 19, 21, 25 and 26.
- Grace O'Malley: 2, 8, 12 and 17.
- Pizarro: 3, 7, 9, 17, 29, 31, 32 and 37.
- John Hawkins: 1, 3, 8, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 18 and 21. The Burial Urn archive also lists these levels.
Uncharted Wiki's treasure list (https://t.co/Sm2NXTc5Iv) · Arqade's older player lists (https://t.co/Me9Fyuw4zD) · Burial Urn archive (https://t.co/CQOIfi4Gng)
Macalpin is where you need to be careful. Both lists include 9, 10, 15, 19, 21, 22, 28 and 34. After that, Arqade lists 29, 31, 33 and 39, while the wiki lists 32, 36, 37 and 38. I'm not combining those into one list and telling you to collect all of them. They disagree, and I couldn't verify which list fits every version.
Golden Tortoise has a smaller disagreement. Both sources list 1, 15, 17, 18, 20, 25 and 26. Arqade puts the other treasure in 7; the wiki puts it in 8. Check your board instead of assuming the number in either guide has to be right. Those are the same two linked treasure lists above.
The parts I couldn't finish
Captain Kidd still doesn't have a complete readable walkthrough in my posts. In particular, I couldn't confidently settle the switch sequence in 29 or the final transition in 30 from the material I had. If you're working on those, the original illustrated guide for 21–30 (https://t.co/D8erFrgPPr) is there to compare with your own board. I'm leaving the uncertain instructions out rather than guessing.
For Macalpin, Grace and Pizarro, any level not listed with my guides above is outside what I finished. Macalpin's later replacement boards also aren't verified here. The exit routes don't cover every optional treasure detour.
Golden Tortoise 36 still has the winding path around the gun that I couldn't turn into reliable square-by-square directions. The pickup and drop order is in the linked post, but that doesn't make the whole route complete. I also don't have a complete written walkthrough for the rest of Golden Tortoise or for Burial Urn. The Golden Tortoise archive (https://t.co/XomIWqnyxJ) and Burial Urn archive above are places to continue looking, with the same warning about matching the board.
So that's where I'm leaving Fortune Hunter. There's useful stuff here, and I've made it clear what I couldn't finish. I would rather leave an honest gap than send you through a bunch of directions I couldn't confirm.
