Uncharted 3 — the puzzle answers Puzzle spoilers throughout. Some of these puzzles are about getting the answer. Others are about standing exactly where the game wants you while you give it the answer. That second part is worth knowing, because having the right idea doesn't always trigger the next scene. Chapter 5: the Golden Hind The clue is a golden deer figurehead, not a complete ship hidden somewhere in the room. Look up at the deer mounted on the pillar. Nathan will react when you find it. Climb the shelves behind the neighboring pillar to its right, work around toward the painting, and climb onto the upper ledge. Jump across toward the figurehead and approach it to trigger the discovery. Chapter 6: four knights Turn the statues so they face these other statues: - Shield faces axe. - Axe faces shield. - Mace faces shield. - Sword faces axe. The symbol beside each journal sketch tells you what that knight should face. It isn't telling you which direction on the compass to use. The sword statue starts correctly positioned, so don't turn it just because the others needed moving. Chapter 6: the floor Start at the yellow moon/wheel tile. Cross the colored groups in this order: four red, three green, four blue, two green, three red, then the destination tile. With the starting tile behind Nathan and the far exit ahead, the corresponding movement groups are: 1. Forward, left, forward, right. 2. Forward, forward, left. 3. Back, left, forward, forward. 4. Right, right. 5. Right, forward, left, then onto the exit tile. Move between neighboring tiles deliberately. If the sequence resets, return to the start; don't try to resume midway through a color group. Chapter 6: the animal grid Look straight at the board. Number rows top to bottom and columns left to right, starting at one. - Lion: row 2, column 2. - Bull: row 3, column 4. - Horse: row 4, column 1. - Eagle: row 5, column 3. Use the mechanism to switch between animals and move each to its square. The reflective clues around the room explain the placement, but the coordinates above are the final arrangement. If it doesn't open, check horse versus bull before moving everything again. Chapter 8: telescope and hidden entrance Stand on the marked viewing position beside Cutter. Use the journal's star diagram to identify Polaris through the telescope; hold your view on the star until Nathan acknowledges it. Follow downward to the lower marked platform. Inspect that star/sun mark through the telescope, then raise the view toward the decorated pillars. After the fighting and the scene involving Cutter, the hidden passage is opened at the middle pillar. This is a position-and-observation sequence, not a puzzle where you rotate every pillar. Chapter 9: the globe Open the floodgates with Cutter and light the upper braziers as the route takes you around the chamber. With the mechanism active, rotate the globe until the projected land shapes fit the engraved land. Use the star marks to fine-tune the alignment: a bright projected star needs to sit over its matching mark, not merely somewhere on the same continent. Keep the other projections aligned too. Once the complete pattern matches, the mechanism opens the route downward. Chapter 11: the three pillars Read the wall inscription, then find the moon symbol on the floor. Stand on it and raise the map. Match the three drawn pillars to the three pillars toward the left from that position. Wait for the recognition scene, then use the lever with the others. Looking at the correct columns while standing somewhere else doesn't solve this one. Chapter 11: the gear room Retrieve the missing gear from the high shelf: climb the pillar by the stairs and cross the overhead route. The wall markings visible along that route show the two useful designs. Use cross and four-circle gears, alternating them through the mechanism. The four-circle gears must turn counterclockwise; crosses clockwise. Don't use a different symbol simply because its gear fits a gap. Once the chain is correctly assembled, operate the mechanism. Chapter 11: the shadow figure Take the central lamp and point it at the main mural. Move to the right of the room's center, keeping the light on the mural, then advance toward the mural until the separate projected pieces join into the standing man holding the spear. His spear must meet the other figure in the scene. Plant the lamp with Triangle when the image is aligned. Both wings have to be solved before the central door opens. The shadows move with the light. Don't waste time searching for a switch on every statue fragment; your position is what joins them together.
