Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Story spoilers. Among Thieves takes Nathan from that first island adventure into something much bigger. You start with him injured in a wrecked train, hanging over a cliff, and then the story backs up so you can find out how he ended up there. That's a hell of a situation to open a game with. The search this time involves Marco Polo, the Cintamani Stone and Shambhala. It starts with a museum job with Harry Flynn and Chloe Frazer, and it turns into Nathan trying to stay ahead of Lazarević. You go from Istanbul to Borneo and Nepal, and the game keeps changing what you're dealing with. The museum break-in, the city fighting, the train, the mountains and the monastery all have their own things going on. Chloe is an important part of that. She already has history with Nathan, and her involvement with Flynn makes the whole situation more complicated. You can't look at every decision she makes as if she's standing safely outside the mess everybody else is caught in. Elena is in this one too. She's reporting on Lazarević with Jeff, and she ends up pulled back into Nathan's life. Their relationship is one of the things I liked about the series. Having history between them changes those conversations. They know each other, and there are things between them that a new person wouldn't understand. Then you have Tenzin. He helps Nathan through the mountains even though they don't share a language. That gives you a very different relationship from the people who are constantly arguing or joking with him. A lot of what they communicate happens through what they actually do for each other. I liked the direction this series took. Among Thieves carries the treasure hunt forward, but it also keeps building the people around Nathan. By the end, the question isn't just whether somebody gets the treasure. You've seen what chasing it has done to everybody involved. One important thing if you're revisiting it for completion: the PS3 multiplayer servers are closed. If you never earned its required online trophies, you can't start fresh now and get that original platinum through the official service. The PS4 remaster has a different, single-player platinum list. Don't follow the wrong guide and waste your time planning for a mode that isn't there anymore.
