E-Day: weapons and what changed
Research-based guide; I haven't played this one yet.
E-Day goes back to the beginning of the Locust invasion, but that doesn't mean you should assume every familiar weapon works exactly the way it did in an older game. The Lancers are the first distinction worth making: the Mk1 has the blade, while the Prototype has the chainsaw.
Regular weapons
- Lancer Mk1: the blade-bayonet rifle. Manage recoil rather than treating it as the later chainsaw Lancer.
- Prototype Lancer: the chainsaw-equipped version. Its identity is familiar, but that doesn't establish identical handling to the later models.
- Hammerburst: the Locust rifle option. Check the equipped fire-mode modifications rather than assuming the name tells you exactly how it fires.
- Gnasher: close-range shotgun. The official hipfire system uses both camera and muzzle checks; aimed fire remains camera-based.
- Ripper: sustained-fire machine gun that settles into greater accuracy as it fires. Its opening burst isn't its strongest accuracy state.
- Longshot: the precision rifle for a deliberate shot rather than continuous pressure.
- Breechshot: another precision option, with different handling and customization from the Longshot. Don't automatically import Judgment's version into this one.
- Torque Bow: explosive precision fire; give yourself time and protection to line up the attack.
- Gut-Puncher: explosive launcher with timing control. Holding and releasing the trigger lets you decide when to detonate; quick shots use automatic detonation.
- Incinerator: charged Imulsion shotgun. Its burning projectile behaves differently from a conventional shotgun blast.
- Snub: the conventional sidearm option.
- Striga: a charge pistol that releases a burst of metal spikes. Account for the charge instead of expecting instant fire.

Heavy weapons
The twelve regular weapons are not the entire arsenal. Troika, Vulcan, Gorehook and Heavy Boomshot sit separately in the heavy category.
The Troika fills the mounted-gun role. The Vulcan supplies rapid minigun fire. The Heavy Boomshot provides explosive firepower. The Gorehook fires a chain projectile that explodes shortly after impact. Treat these as different tools, not four names for the same heavy weapon.

Mods and modes matter
A weapon's modifications can change the way it behaves. Read what is actually equipped before copying a build or assuming someone else's demonstration will match yours. Horde Siege and Versus tuning can also differ, so a damage number from one mode isn't automatically the answer for the other.
I'm deliberately not putting together a numerical best-to-worst list from a mixture of launch figures, beta stats and different modes. That would look more definite than the evidence supports.
Familiar features aren't guaranteed
The official launch notes said meatshields, chainsaw duels, private lobbies and leaderboards were not available at launch. I haven't found an announcement restoring them in the reviewed October updates. That's a statement about the checked launch/update information, not a claim that they can never be added.
The launch settings also include field-of-view control, HDR calibration, and film-grain/chromatic-aberration options. Those are worth checking before settling into a playthrough, especially if the default image or camera setup isn't comfortable for you.

Check your Journal if something didn't count
The substantial tracking patch was October 14, not October 13. The official notes did not promise to award every previously missed collectible automatically. Check the Journal and revisit a missing pickup if necessary. Missing campaign rewards may also require replaying a completed mission.

I want to play E-Day, but I haven't done it yet. These are the researched mechanics and guide details. My own thoughts on how it feels will come after I've actually spent time with it.
