Original Gears, Ultimate Edition, and Reloaded: what actually changes These are versions of the first Gears story, not three sequels. That matters if you're deciding which guide applies to what you're playing. Original Xbox 360: the original campaign and 30 COG tags. Its achievement list includes act-by-act difficulty awards and ranked weapon counters. Playing it through backward compatibility doesn't turn it into Ultimate Edition. Original Windows release: adds the campaign section before the train and takes the COG-tag count to 33. This is the old Games for Windows LIVE version, not Windows Ultimate Edition. It has its own achievement conditions, including some counters that track qualifying matches instead of individual kills. Ultimate Edition: rebuilds the presentation and brings those additional campaign chapters to Xbox. It also modernizes controls, adds the Normal difficulty option, and expands the multiplayer offering. The Xbox One release's 60 fps multiplayer claim doesn't mean its original campaign ran at 60 fps too. The Windows release and later backward-compatible enhancements have their own performance details. Its advertised targets are 60 fps campaign and up to 120 fps multiplayer, with 4K/HDR support on compatible hardware, improved audio, cross-play and cross-progression. Those are different claims from a new campaign or a completely new combat system. Official Reloaded announcement (https://t.co/VSEg6lYFmA) For achievements and collectibles, the safest thing is to match the exact edition first. The remasters use 33 tags, the old Xbox 360 version uses 30, and the achievement conditions aren't interchangeable. Better graphics don't tell you whether a particular old multiplayer achievement is still accessible either. That needs its own check.
