Assassin’s Creed Invictus: RUMORS, PLAYTEST REPORTS, AND THE FALL GUYS COMPARISON Invictus has probably picked up more baggage from one comparison than anything else on this list. People hear Fall Guys and immediately picture a particular kind of game. The reports were more specific than that, and some of them are already two years old. The alleged rounds, modes, and characters In September 2024, xJ0nathan described a round-based multiplayer game. Insider Gaming said its own sources supported most of that account: team deathmatch, free-for-all combat, and a speed challenge involving marked points around the map. Players would choose powers between rounds. The report also described arcade-style action, a bubble shield, a pulled-back camera, and locations taken from earlier Assassin’s Creed games. Ezio and Cesare Borgia were the two characters named. Even the player count differed: xJ0nathan said 16, while Insider Gaming said 18. None of that was Ubisoft publishing a final roster or ruleset. September 2024 report (https://t.co/TFSagwIxwa) So the Fall Guys comparison was about the competition and knockout-round structure. It was not enough on its own to tell us what the game looked like or how the fighting actually felt. The rough playtest reports On May 4, 2026, Insider Gaming covered xJ0nathan’s account of unhappy feedback from an April 30 test. The outlet independently verified that a test happened. That does not make every opinion or prediction attached to it an established fact. Its own reporting was more mixed: it described a project with problems, but also potential. It said private footage showed familiar Assassins fighting in locations from Mirage and Odyssey, with an Assassin’s Creed appearance rather than a Fall Guys visual style. Delay and cancellation were being discussed as possibilities, not announced outcomes. May playtest report (https://t.co/0BLNSmhkiZ) The screenshot Ubisoft challenged On May 5, Ubisoft responded to a circulating image by saying it might have originated in a private test but had been heavily altered, probably using AI. That is a direct challenge to that image. It is not proof that every reported mechanic was invented, but it makes the picture a bad basis for judging the game’s graphics. Ubisoft’s response, covered by GameSpot (https://t.co/YC6uFnfBhy) Where that leaves it now The newer official update described above matters more than treating an old prototype as the finished product. A rough test can lead to changes. A company’s positive account of a test is not a guarantee either. I still want to see the actual modes, how the characters differ, what surviving each round involves, and whether the final game keeps that earlier structure at all. The old 16-versus-18-player accounts do not settle today’s player count. The two named characters do not give us the whole roster. And the May cancellation speculation is not a cancellation announcement. There is enough here to be interested in what they are trying, but not enough to judge the finished game before we have actually seen it.
