Shadows — do the choices change the ending? This isn't another Odyssey-style hunt for the right combination of dialogue choices to get a different main ending. Shadows has a fixed destination for its main story. The choices change parts of the journey, and side stories can turn out differently. If you want the writers' chosen route without stopping at dialogue decisions, that's what Canon Mode is for. If you want to make those decisions yourself, leave it off. Don't confuse a different side-quest result with an entirely different main ending. One important distinction now: finishing the original campaign and playing the later Black Tides chapter are not the same thing. The added chapter has its own access requirements, covered separately. Assassin’s Creed Shadows: don't stop at the original ending There's an important difference between finishing the game as it launched and catching up with everything that's been added since. Black Tides, released with the June 16, 2026 update, is the free final story chapter. Naoe and Yasuke face two elite Templars called the Black Cross. To start it, finish the main story, A Critical Encounter and A Puzzlement. You do not have to buy or finish Claws of Awaji. Opening the mysterious glyph door changes some events, but isn't required either. The same update adds Domains. Find them through the Objective Board or the unusual mountain in Yamato once you're level 30. These are five challenge arenas with changing modifiers, not another normal region to clear. Read the conditions before choosing your equipment. A favorite setup isn't automatically the right setup for every run. The update also includes the final modern-day Rift, Horizon, and connections to Black Flag Resynced.
