Story spoilers for Odyssey and Kassandra's role in the larger series.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey is another one of my favorites. Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla are the three I got some of the most absorbed in, but Odyssey has something about it that I especially like. It doesn't feel as rigid to me. I loved having that much room to explore and get involved in everything going on around the character.
And Kassandra is a huge part of why this one works so well for me. Her family, the Cult of Kosmos, the history behind her, and then everything that happens with the Isu side of the story. There's so much connected to this one character.
The story takes place in ancient Greece during the Peloponnesian War, long before Bayek and Aya establish the Hidden Ones. So you're going further back into the history of this world, before the Brotherhood exists in the form we know. You still see the ideas, the artifacts, and the power struggles that become part of the larger series.
Then there's Kassandra's long life through the Staff of Hermes. That takes her story far beyond the time period you start in. Seeing how she connects to later parts of Assassin's Creed is one of the things I find so interesting about her. She's carrying something that reaches across these different games and eras.
The sea is another part of it. Being out there with the Adrestia, exploring islands and getting into naval battles, gave me that connection back to Uncharted Waters on the Super Nintendo. Not Uncharted. Uncharted Waters. Those older games left an impression on me, and I like seeing that kind of freedom in a much bigger game.
Between the main story, Legacy of the First Blade, The Fate of Atlantis, and all the other things to find, there's a lot here. I loved how deep it went. This is absolutely one of the games I want to spend more time talking about.
