Origins: skills worth looking at first
A practical starter guide, not a list of every node or every DLC-added ability.
Origins has a lot of choices in the skill tree, but I wouldn't get caught up trying to buy everything immediately. Think about what's actually giving you trouble and what kind of fighting you keep coming back to.
For surviving fights: Regeneration is worth looking at early. It lets health recover during combat, within the current health segment. It won't just refill every empty segment while you're standing there getting hit. Give yourself room to recover.
For shielded enemies: Charge Heavy Attack gives you an answer to tower shields. You need time to charge it, so don't stand in the middle of a crowd and expect everyone to wait politely.
For changing weapons quickly: Weapon Bearer opens a second melee slot. I'd put different weapon types there instead of two weapons that solve the same problem. A second option gives you something to switch to when the first one isn't working.
For defensive timing: Parry is useful if you want to learn that style of fighting. Practice against a single enemy first instead of trying to learn the timing with half a camp attacking you.

For stealth: Chain Assassination lets you follow a hidden-blade assassination with a thrown dagger at another target. Check who's standing nearby before the first kill; the follow-up is the reason you're buying it. Ability description (https://t.co/t2SRxXieeA).
If you're chasing achievements: keep the achievement checklist nearby when spending points. Several challenges require particular abilities, so that list will help you avoid buying unrelated skills first.
That's how I'd keep the early choices manageable: survival, a way through shields, a useful second weapon, and then the skills that fit how you actually play. You can work toward the more specialized stuff without buying something just because it sounds impressive.
Once you reach Curse of the Pharaohs
Overpower Fury is the one I'd look at first if survival is the problem. Your Overpower attack restores some health and clears negative conditions. Dash Boost suits a different approach: time a perfect dodge and get a short damage increase. One helps recover from a rough fight; the other rewards getting the timing right. Favor of Osiris replenishes arrows and tools over time in the Afterlife regions. That's useful for keeping a ranged or tool-heavy approach going, but don't read it as unlimited supplies everywhere in Egypt. Ability description (https://t.co/IqeJEf6qWK).
