Chronicles: India tools and practical priorities
India gives you more ways to get through a section without killing everybody. That's worth learning properly, especially if you're going after the no-kill achievement.
Start by separating an assassination from a non-lethal takedown. They aren't interchangeable just because both remove a guard from your path. Check the prompt and use the non-lethal action when that's what the run requires.
The whistle pulls a guard toward the sound you're making. A thrown distraction lets you draw attention somewhere else. Decide where you want the guard looking, and where you'll be moving, before you use either one.
Smoke bombs are useful for crossing a watched space or getting close enough to act. Don't waste the whole cloud standing still deciding where to go. Have the next hiding place or target picked out first.
The chakram is more than another thing to throw at a guard. It can interact with the environment, including ropes and alarm mechanisms. Look at what it can change in a room before deciding your only option is to take everyone out. Be careful with falling objects during a no-kill attempt.
Helix movement helps you cross gaps between hiding places. Helix Blend lets guards pass without noticing you. Those are useful for a stealth run, but you still need energy and the ability unlocked. A guide showing an early-memory Helix trick may be using Plus, not the first playthrough.
Helix Blade removes the body during an assassination. That's useful when discovery is the problem, but it's still a kill. Don't mix it into your no-kill plan just because the evidence disappears.
For upgrades, the practical ones are extra tool capacity and improvements that make your preferred approach easier. If smoke is what gets you through the difficult sections, earning the extra capacity is worth more than forcing the next section with no room for a mistake. Check the reward you earned at the end of the memory, not just whether you reached the exit.
I'd learn the quiet route first, then work on the timed run. Trying to discover the level, collect everything, avoid every kill and beat the clock at once is an easy way to turn a short game into a pain in the ass.
