Assassin’s Creed Syndicate was one of my favorite games from that stretch of the series after Connor. It was a really good game, and Jacob and Evie were a big part of why. I loved the dual-character aspect and their different personalities. They each had their own approach, their own strengths, and their own part in the story. Jacob was more direct, getting into fights and building up the Rooks. Evie was more focused on the Assassin side of things and the search for the Shroud. Having both of them in the same game gave it a lot of personality. They could use the same main weapon types, so it wasn’t a case of one character being locked to one weapon. But their individual skills and the way you could develop them made a difference. Evie leaned further into stealth, while Jacob had strengths in fighting. I liked having that choice rather than spending the entire game with one approach. Syndicate came out in 2015 and took us into London in 1868. That setting gave it a different feel again. There were factories, trains, carriages, street gangs, and all the changes happening around the Industrial Revolution. The rope launcher also changed how you moved through a city with those wide streets and huge buildings. It had an amazing storyline, and I loved how much history was worked into it. Queen Victoria was involved, along with people like Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin, and Alexander Graham Bell. These were fictional adventures involving real historical figures, but that’s always been a big part of what makes Assassin’s Creed interesting to me. And underneath all of that, you still had the twins trying to break the Templars’ hold on London. Their personalities didn’t always line up, and neither did their priorities. That gave the story something to work with beyond just moving from one target to the next. Really good game. Connor still stands out for me from the earlier games, but Jacob and Evie made Syndicate one of my favorites from the games that followed.
