The flags are the part of AC1 where I would keep a checklist right beside me. There are 420 of them. Finding most of them isn't the problem. Getting to the end and trying to work out which one you missed is the problem.
I'd keep one guide open, stick with its numbering, and mark off each flag when I actually pick it up. Don't switch between maps halfway through and assume flag 27 means the same thing everywhere. It doesn't.
Here's the breakdown:
- Masyaf: 20.
- Kingdom: 100.
- Damascus: 100 total: Poor 33, Middle 34, Rich 33.
- Jerusalem: 100 total: Poor 34, Middle 33, Rich 33.
- Acre: 100 total: Poor 33, Middle 33, Rich 34.
For Acre, those are three separate flag collections: Hospitalier in the Poor District, Teutonic in the Middle District, and Templar in the Rich District. The Templar flags are not the same thing as the 60 Templar enemies.
My suggestion is to finish one district at a time. Write down the count before you start and check it again before you leave. If a pickup doesn't match the number you expected, sort that out there instead of carrying the confusion into another city.
Use the interactive flag maps (https://t.co/L2xTPY7SJD) for marked locations and their screenshots, or GamesRadar's complete map guide (https://t.co/h1FPFPrece). Choose one numbering system and stay with it.
